Re: Weight & Balance App?

I like "Gyronimo" on the iPad, it gives you a graphical display with sliders to easily adjust all parameters. I also use the W&B feature in ForeFlight, although I'm not sure what subscription level this requires.

Savvy Analysis Report Cards

I know that a lot of us use Savvy Analysis to analyze engine data from flights. For those that don't, this is a free service that let's you upload your flight data and view trends of all available data for each flight on a website. They also have a paid version for which they will have someone analy...

Re: Slow Landing Flaps Deployment

I would suspect that one of the flap limit switches may be sticking or starting to fail. I had some limit switch failures a while back that prevented the flaps from moving. Before they completely failed, I experienced delays prior to flap movement similar to what you described, although the length o...

Re: Garmin 345R ADS-B installation

Wayne,
I have a 2008 WAAS and my experience is the same as yours. I only see nexrad, METARs, and TAFs on the G1000.

Re: DA40 Rentals in Hawaii? (Oahu)

Hey Adam. No, I did not find any in Oahu. I did talk to a flight school that had other types of aircraft for rent but didn't get to work a flight into my schedule.

Re: Tiedown for DA40

Dan,

I was thinking about buying a set of these Slidedowns. What do you think of yours after having them for a year now?

Did you have to order a custom length? I was told the standard ones might be too short for the DA40 to use on a standard tie-down ring layout.

Re: Rudder cable replacement requirement changed

How would you know if you have stainless steel rudder cables or not? Was there a certain year that they started being used or was this a factory option?

Re: Gust lock straps lose tension

I had the same problem but then just tied knots in the straps right behind the clips after adjusting them. They’ve held tight for at least a few months now.

Re: Enroute Engine Tests ...

Gary, I have a subscription, and I do the in-flight lean mag check & gami lean test regularly during longer flights. I didn't know about the induction leak test but I plan to start doing that as well. The reports Savvy provide are easy to read and could indicate a marginal problem with a plug, i...

Re: GFC700 went offline

So I had an autopilot failure tonight. I have a 2008 WAAS w/ GFC700. I was being vectored for an approach with the Autopilot engaged in HDG/ALT mode. I got the red "AFCS" annunciation on the PFD and the autopilot disconnected. The flight director continued to work. The AFCS stayed illumina...
