Re: No-drip oil filter change - with pics!

Has anyone tried or used the Tempest Oil Filter Wrench on the DA40? I wonder if it will fit between the firewall on the oil filter?

Re: EYW Key West / NQX Naval Air Station

I've been thinking about flying to EYW, and wondered how to navigate the NQX airspace. Anyone have any experience flying in IFR? Does ATC clear you through NQX w/o having to contact NQX tower or do they just vector you around? What about flying in VFR? Just avoid NQX or contact NQX tower and ask to ...

Re: Fuel Servo

Matt-

What was the final resolution on this problem? Was it a intake manifold leak and if so, did replacing the gaskets fix the issue?

Idle RPM and Oil Pressure

Trying to find the proper idle RPM setting for my Lycoming DA40. I've searched the forum and seen numbers ranging from 600-800. Mine idles around 800 which "feels" low, but I am told the idle setting is too high. The other issue I have with lowering the idle is the oil pressure (even at 80...

Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)

This webinar provides a good overview of the GI 275: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdA9_5ODACY&t=2062s To skip ahead, at 32:56-35:50 it talks about compatibility with legacy autopilot systems, including the KAP140. That's what got me thinking I could replace my TC. But, but I think (in the cas...

Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)

So I did a little further research and according the the DA40 AMM Dwg DA4-9222-10-03 Connector J3492, the only inputs from the TC to the KAP140 are roll rate +, roll rate - and rate valid which match up with the KAP140 installation guide showing those inputs for pins 3, 21 and 10. So...if the GI 275...

Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)

I have a non-WAAS G1000 KAP-140 and I spoke with Garmin about replacing my AI and TC with the GI 275 AI with autopilot input. They said the KAP 140 is integrated with the G1000 system and installing a AP version of the GI 275 will not work. I explained that the G1000 provides course deviation and th...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

Charles- Mine is a 2005 S/N 40.511 (non-WAAS G1000) and has a factory logbook entry that says: "Garmin Integrated Avionics System installed per STC No. SA01254WI Amend 1" I have often wondered if the G1000 could be removed and replaced with a different system since it was originally instal...

Re: Any value of XM weather?

Slight clarification to: "These "new" ADS-B weather products that the FAA added last year all show up just fine on external displays." They do not display on the Android version of Garmin Pilot via the GTX-345R. I contacted Garmin and they said adding these new products to the An...

Re: Da42 flight school in ga/al/tn

I realize these folks are not in GA / AL / TN, but they are a top notch group of guys and very reasonably priced. I got my ME here and was VERY satisfied:

They are located in Bellefontaine, Ohio which is close to Columbus.
