Re: 246 Engine Outages, 30 Deaths?
Peter, keep in mind that this newspaper story (Kurier Austria) is based on the Thielert (Conti) and Austro powered Diamonds, and mainly on DA40s. I only know of one dual failure on a DA42, which was after a departure with a discharged main battery - and a voltage drop following a dual ECU/Engine dur...

Re: PowerFlarm Portable
Hi Lea
I do have a PowerFlarm on my DA40 since years. No interference to any avionics. In my opinion it’s a must in the European Airspace.
(see the latest SUST/SESE Report - collision of the C210/PA28 near Lommis).
see the Installation; https://youtu.be/_8PVu0_Hq6I

Re: Interested in an 01-03 DA40 6 pack
Don, with a six pack DA40 (up to 2003 standard), you have the possibility to upgrade with new Garmin avionic, GTN 650/750 - G500 or an Avidyne solution. Except for the Autopilot KAP140 you have then an equal or even better equipped panel than the (old) G1000. The aircraft is definitely lighter. If y...

Re: Tug for 42-VI
We use a TugMAXXE - SM 2.0 TWIN ENGINE AIRCRAFT TUG for years for a DA42 and I use the smaller type for my DA40. Very easy and durable. https://www.tugmaxxe-usa.com/ ---------------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx13DALRCs4&t=9s if you consider an offer, tell them regards from Thomas/Switzerl...

Re: Converting from a VM-1000 to EDM-900 Engine Monitoring System (EMS)
Lance, I will be in the same situation soon, the VM1000 shows some signs of age, MP is off some times and so is one EGT. I did change the internal battery, its Ok now but I don`t think that was the real problem. Anyway we in Europe are not urged soon to go for ADS B, but it would make sense do to it...

Same for me - a slide-in replacement for non-g1000 aircraft. Cost and EASA compliance is a factor.

Re: Lean of peak
Fully agree with Antoine. Especially first part, this has nothing to do with DA40, it`s pure airmanship.
