Re: DA40 Air conditioning

I have often thought that if FBOs had a big chiller hose (the dimensions of an airstart sort of yellow hose) and could shoot 50F air into the cabin of my little GA plane that the need for AC would be nil. By the time I made it to the runway it might be at 70F, but I bet I'd be comfortable all the w...

Re: Tiedown for DA40

$5 of materials properly packaged and selling for $70. I don't feel the need to justify my purchase, but we should be fair to SlideDown - Amazon sells 50' of 11mm Kernmantle Braided rope for $70. My ropes use about half of that. Add 6 stout rubber coated hooks and three machined and powder coated a...

We have a 2004 model without the MTOW mod. Is there an easy way to tell if we need the gear update?

Re: Pulls to left while taxiing

I'm out of a relatively painless annual. Replaced the left main (due to wear) and the plane taxis more or less straight, better than I have ever seen. (Both tires now are same brand and type). Fingers crossed...

Re: Transponder upgrade - Interference issues

Would be interested in feedback on this one. Our audio made a crackling noise with the old GTX 33 AND the new GTX 345. The problem will disappear when the transponder breaker is pulled. One shop replacing our audio panel advised us not to bother tracking it down. Says it's "typical". A different sho...

Re: Pulls to left while taxiing

Sounds like we shouldn't get too crazy here. It always pulls to the left so probably not winds. Tires are the same size, but different brands, not sure if that makes a difference. I will dig into the alignment procedure. I noticed some uneven wear on the left main so maybe it's crooked. Thank you fo...

Pulls to left while taxiing

The airplane pulls to the left while taxiing, has since I started flying it almost two years ago. I periodically stab the right brake to keep it on course. Our mechanic re-packed the wheel bearings and checked the brakes and tires at the last annual but couldn't find anything wrong. The left and rig...

Re: Passenger Assist Step Suggestions

I use this one from Sporty's for my DA40: http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/aeroladder-aviation-step-stool-two-step.html?___SID=U Folds flat, very strong, steps feel very natural up to the wing. It is shorter than the wing so it wont scratch if it gets too close. That said, the plastic one is nice to...

Re: Kap 140 shutting off when cold

I have routinely flown with the KAP 140 below 20°F this winter and last with no problems (knock knock). I think your problem lies elsewhere.
