DX.X Waypoint added to approach

The G1000 adds an extra waypoint on some approaches 2 miles before the IF. (D10.9 in the example photo) Does anyone know the reason for this? My only guess is that it's a 2 mile warning before grabbing the localizer. It seems to show for some approaches but not others. S/W version 321.23 WAAS KAP 14...

Thanks for reply but I was specifically interested in Colin’s reply because I understood he did it on DA42. But now when I rethink it comes to my mind that he has GFC700 in his DA42.
Whoops, sorry - I just realized my mistake.

Re: WAAS KAP140

I did it years and years ago. Maybe you answered this question before but I don’t remember I saw it: What’s G1000 software version do you have - is it the same that all legacy owners have or you got some upgrade when installing WAAS upgrade? Ours is a 2004 upgraded to WAAS. Not sure what rev you ar...

I think there is a math problem in the article.
144 units to 150; is not even close to double.

Re: Path to ADS-B & WAAS for older DA40s

This is all good stuff in this thread so far. I'm going to save a link to it in case we don't update the Wiki for some reason. I spoke to a mechanic yesterday who mentioned that a GDL-82 inline on older G1000 planes is a viable and relatively inexpensive solution for ADS-B out on older G1000 planes...

Re: AHRS / Heading Indicator Gremlin

DIN7985 is basically a pan-head Philips. A1 (Alpha one) is 303 Stainless. The IPC states Al (Alpha Lima) though I am wondering if it is a typo because I can't find this designation anywhere. I pulled one of the screws yesterday and it has a very mild attraction to a magnet so I am pretty sure it is ...

Re: AHRS / Heading Indicator Gremlin

When I was having issues with my HDG X-ing out, these were recommended: 1. Unplug charging accessories from the DC port (I had a poor quality charger for the iPad that created interference). 2. Turn off electronics (iPad, iPhone, etc.) or at least the device's radios (cell, wifi) to rule these out....

Re: What's in the bag?

My daughter has a totally different view of useful load. According to her, what’s in the bag includes 2000 watt hairdryer, curling iron, 10 lbs of makeup, four sets of clothes for every day gone, sleeping pillow, cell phone charger (more important than jumper cables to start the plane) and all her ...

Re: MTOW Increase OSB kit 40-057/2

Thank you Rich - very helpful.

Please help me understand how limiting up-elevator travel will allow me to take off with more weight. I think I am missing something.

I am still very interested in the $$ proposition cost/value if anybody can help me rationalize it.

MTOW Increase OSB kit 40-057/2

I am the co-owner of a 2004 model DA-40-180 with 40 gallon tanks, looking to have the MTOW increase kit installed. With a small wife and daughter, I don't run into problems with MTOW often, but it would be nice to have the flexibility. My partner has no need for the upgrade so I will need to make a ...
