Re: Nickels and dimes

One more thing I consider: Foreflight costs (roughly) the same to produce whether people are flying or not. Auto insurance claims go down when nobody is driving. Granted, if I lived in a place where I was essentially grounded due to the virus, I might be more inclined to ask for a suspension in my s...

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition

Does anyone know the proper way to tap into the manifold pressure for timing advance? Nobody was sure, but Will from SureFly said it would either be a 1/8" NPT to 1/8" hose barb into the primer port or TEE into an existing line. Can someone who has had this done comment? Each cylinder has...

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition

Please disregard my previous post. After talking with SureFly, Diamond tech support, and my mechanic, we are going to enable advance timing, and enable both mags for starting. SureFly will be replacing my right mag. I was told by Diamond Tech support that enabling both mags to start would be basical...

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition

We are having ours done right now. My mechanic discussed with the SureFly rep and the their recommendation is to replace the right mag, disable the advance timing, and keep the SS. My understanding is that we will be starting off the left mag only. The plane is kept near sea level and I don't often ...

Re: SureFly Electronic Ignition

Just went into annual and the mags are due for 500 hr inspection. My A&P has talked me into installing a SureFly. He discussed with a SureFly rep at length and they are recommending to replace the right mag and skip the advanced timing. Biting my nails a bit, I hope I don't have any problems. Ou...

Re: That innocuous foam cover

I bought a 10 pack from Amazon before the last Young Eagles. They don't fit everything perfectly, but they're cheap.

Re: Maintaining proficiency in these times

Filed last Sunday in the Boston area round robin from KLWM to KPYM and back. I'm trying to build up experience in the system since getting my IFR last year. I was surprised how busy it still is, commercial and GA. They routed me well clear of the Boston Bravo on the way down and skimmed it on the wa...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

Since it's going to be via video conferencing, couldn't we all join in to listen in? Clearly we don't all need to be able to speak. I don’t think this would be acceptable form. First of all, it was not planned like this, so we can’t change it. Second, if the “speaking” meeting participants don’t kn...

Re: tail tie-down solution

Same here but I have noticed some silver-gray rub marks around the hole. Not sure if it is something that would buff out but I have purchased a rope shackle to try.
