Re: SE-MAD new owner

The tales of fees for changing your IFR destination don't make me excited about flying in Europe. IFR routes are charged by Eurocontrol if you fly aircraft over 2 tons MTOM which is non relevant for small piston single engine and twins. Even JetProp falls in this below 2 tons category. Regarding ai...

Re: 2.0s in da42 TDi

TBH speed difference is nothing huge - we're talking about 20-30 kts and it's not much. With some 300k€ for the aircraft and 260k€ for the upgrade you end in price range of turboprop. And there we're talking about real speeds (250+ kts), presurized aircraft (no canulas) and FL250+. But that's comple...

Re: SE-MAD new owner

In reality it's not a big deal. You just have to start it. The first time is probably the toughest one but then it becomes routine. The real problem is lack of information especially for PPL holders - you can hardly expect to get any info from your instructor and the people in local flying club - th...

Re: 2.0s in da42 TDi

Again - engines are one side of the equation. I personally value aerodynamics a lot more, and this where the -VI widens the gap. TBH I don't see a problem applying aerodynamics changes of -VI to any DA42 - there's an upgrade of TDI to -VI so it's feasible. So probably it's a question of sales if Di...

Re: 2.0s in da42 TDi

The pricing has several options depending on what you have to upgrade, so the easiest way is to contact John and ask based on what you actually need.

Re: 2.0s in da42 TDi

I got an update from John - everything remained as he estimated at the begining - pricing, availability, shops that we'll be able to perform the upgrade, props upgrade to schmitar. So I'm planning my upgrade once I reach 1500 hours on current engines (probably end of 2016).

Transfilling hose for built in oxygen

I want to buy a transfilling hose to fill oxygen by myself and I can't find any info on fittings so I can't place the order. I sent an e-mail to Aerox with picture attached and they replied "That looks like a PB3" but I still don't know if it is PB3 or something else. Can somebody confirm what exact...

Re: SE-MAD new owner

Just an update - I made few business trips to my usual destinations (LQSA and LYBE) and one great trip to Calvi, Corsica - pics attached. The experience with aircraft was great, easy to fly (little bit more demanding when hand-flying in IMC), easy to land, performing as expected.
