Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
I've got a DA40 NG (a Tundra Star) on order, delivery in Feb, 20% down payment made. Wondering if I should insist on a hold until possible engine problem is resolved? Or some guarantee that since engine problem "semi-known" that contract be revised to make Diamond liable for costs of fix/r...

Re: College Station, TX Area Rental/Lease Needed
I have ordered a DA40NG Tundra Star (perhaps only one in U.S., seems like just Russians have bought) that will arrive early in 2024, and I'll hangar at COmanche TX, center of state, about 2 hours from Austin. It will spend a lot of time in CO. Have had DA40 "rental partners" before. Curren...

Re: Can Tundra Star safely use rough dirt strips?
hoping to find someone who has flown one on a rough field or some video that shows a Tundra Star on a real rough field, not the grass at the Diamond Star airport in Austria. Supposedly 50 of these built for Russian use on rough fields--but can't find a spec of info on how they have done and how roug...

Re: Can Tundra Star safely use rough dirt strips?
Thanks. That 2014 article doesn't give info on how bad a field it can handle, and surprisingly I find nothing googling on the Tundra Star on a rough field. I'd have thought a tail dragger magazine would have done some comparison, or some videos showing it on a bumpy dirt field (almost none showing T...

Can Tundra Star safely use rough dirt strips?
Used to own DA40, want an NG, but also have occasional need to land on a rough dirt private strip in NV (not Burning Man!). Realize a tail dragger safest and best for this; but can the Tundra Star safely handle a rough dirt strip, with some big rocks sticking up a few inches? Nothing written on this...

Re: Finally the Launch??
Saw a video with sales official at OSH saying the price is $1.15 million. I was expecting they'd try $750K. That's a ridiculously high price, and end of my interest in DA50.

Re: Finally the Launch??
Would appreciate seeing any info you can collect at OSH and the price. To me the fuel difference is a big plus for DA50--what do you think? And there is a third camp for chute: it is a net negative: cost and weight outweigh rare chance you'd ever need it.

Drew

Re: Finally the Launch??
Or C is for the third (or more) version of DA50, an ever evolving but not happening launch it seemed. Won't be at OSH to see it; but grateful for any more insights, advice you have on the plane. If I decide to pursue, will likely buy and fly a used Arrow for awhile; else the insurance companies will...

Re: Finally the Launch??
Does anyone know what the "market response" is specifically to the DA50 RG? Any sold in Europe since approved last year? Any indications of U.S. demand? Or is this "market response" just a generic referral to Cirrus/parachute popularity?
Thanks,
Drew

Re: Finally the Launch??
I do Colorado Mountain flying, and feel no need for a parachute--there is almost always a place to safely land, less damage to plane than parachute, so a good pilot will never need it. You pay a lot up front to buy, pay all the time for the dead weight towed around, pay more on annual inspections an...
