Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

Sure Russ I am planning to use the plane this week so will take a photo and post it. But if you look at the nose compartment of any DA42-or I suppose 62 with factory 02 you can see the cradle and strap arrangement.

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

I have a 50 cu ft MH tank strapped into a fiberglass cradle mounted in the nose compartment. This is the same cradle used for the factory installation using the Aerox tank. The MH regulator has two feed nozzles so I have two lines leading to two controllers, one mounted next to the left seat and one...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program

Status Update I flew the plane over to KHWD (Absolute) on Wednesday. I also talked with Diamond that morning as well. Everyone said that a total GIA box failure is really really rare. First step was swapping GIA1 with GIA2 to see if the problem followed the boxes. Both showed up as red X, but swapp...

Re: DA42 retrofits

The inexpensive "1090 Solution" should be the GTX33-ES, which involves Garmin upgrading your existing GTX33 and sliding it back into the same slot. About $1500 plus 5 or 6 hours of labor. BUT, this option is not available for your TDI, although it is I believe for NGs and 62s. According to...

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

I installed the MH system with the 48 CU composite cylinder in 2010 and love it. Diamond in Austria mounted the cylinder in the nose compartment in the same cradle used for the factory system (which for earlier models was continuous flow-very wasteful), with two thin hoses leading under the instrume...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program

I noticed early on that the KAP 140 also won’t do the inbound leg of the 180 degree procedure turn on approaches with course reversals. You have to switch to heading mode to initiate the turn on the inbound leg. These turns, like holds, on shown as lines on the charts and are in that sense published...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXi upgrade program

I have always heard that the KAP 140 cannot fly holds. But who cares; the heading bug + timer is good enough!

Re: G1000 Legacy upgrade program for DA42TDI

Sounds like many DA42s are being routinely fitted in North and South America and Australia without the URBE EASA STC. I would like to see what the paperwork looks like for these mods.

Re: G1000 Legacy upgrade program for DA42TDI

Hello Salim Actually I didn't see it in a Service Bulletin. The GIA63W is included in the Authorized Equipment List (page 6-23) of the AFM for the DA42 w/GFC 700. This means WAAS operation is covered by either the TC or a STC. No mention of the 63W in the AFM equipment list for DA42 w/KAP 140. There...

Re: G1000 Legacy upgrade program for DA42TDI

I recently purchased two 63Ws from Wentworth Aircraft Inc in Minnesota (tel 763 231 8482). The manager, Kevin, was very helpful. The boxes are the -01 version and were salvaged from a 2009 Cirrus that was destroyed when the hangar collapsed in a tornado. The cost was $5000 each. No paperwork but the...
