Re: Advertising

Kai, I find this forum to be an extremely valuable source of pilot, flying, ownership and Diamond information. My biggest desire is that that continues to be true. As already discussed there are a number of ways that the costs of the site can be covered and as an IT manager I understand and concur w...

Re: New High Performance Landing Gear

Premier has more than one non-STC enhancement (backup alternator and A/C) that use a 337 for every install I believe. They may have a good relationship with their FSDO and someone that may be familiar with Diamond modifications. Might be a good place to start.

Re: Do I Need Whole Plane Covers?

Any recommendations for internal sun shades for a DA40? Ive been using a Bruce's cover on tie down at KHPN for the last 3 years and while overall it has worked quite well it has scratched the plexi a bit in that time. I was planning to buy a second cover to that I can conveniently set up a wash cycl...

Re: Broken Starter

I got the broken starter back and it doesnt look burned. Sure enough though, the piece that I found lying outside of the plane (that I originally just thought was random FOD) was the piece that broke off. Maybe I got some kickback and had the older "weaker" version. Here are some pics: 003...

Re: Broken Starter

I cant say that it didnt overheat, but I dont recall any difficult starts recently. I'll take a much closer look tomorrow when I collect the remains from the mechanic. I havent been especially religious about the 10 sec rule, but it does tend to start quite easily both cold and hot (although Im stil...

Re: Broken Starter

This just happened to me as well. On the tarmac, strange grinding noise and the prop moves a few inches. Waited a bit and tried again and the prop didnt move at all but I could hear the starter motor whirring. Just got a call from the mechanic and he tells me that a big piece of the housing is missi...

Re: Very Cold Start

I just ordered one of these: http://smile.amazon.com/Earthquake-11613-Portable-Generator-Compliant/dp/B00FL89I2W/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t It seems to be the best combo I was able to find of price/power/positive ratings/weight ($285/700W/4.5 stars/21lbs). I think it will fit the bill. I'll carry it in my...

Re: iPhone 6 Plus

I also hope that software will start to make use of the barometer and come up with creative uses for the motion controller (cheap inertial AHRS?). I still use a full size iPad Air as Ive found a mounting solution that works for me, but I will be looking at the new iPads when they come out next month...
