Hartzell Overhaul ?
Quick question for those knowledgeable folks out there. What is the overhaul requirement on the 2 blade Hartzell. Mine is a 2005 with 1140 hours.

Re: fuel sensor
Just returned from a long x-country and while underway my left fuel reading went blank. Just a big red X through the entire left display. I was not concerned about fuel management but was worried this might be expensive. Is the sensor inside the tank the only possible issue ? I was hoping it might b...

Re: g1000 limitations - north of 65 in North America
Marc, I have made that trip a few times and never had any problems. Now with my DA40 G1000 I have only been as far north as Bettles and Yukon River which is about 67 degrees. But the other trips were right to Tuk and even Barrow, AK and none of the GPS used there had any issues. Unless you are plann...

Re: No-drip oil filter change - with pics!
The aluminum angle in the first post is exactly what I use. Mine is a 1.5 " angle and I dont even bother to tie it in place although that is a good idea. I also have a quick drain installed. I have done about 15 oil changes on my DA40 and I never spill a drop. It works well

Re: MPF Fan
I think the fan was $400 direct from Diamond in London. It looks just like a $20 computer fan ! Maybe it is ! If you undo the glare shield you can get in the back behind the PFD and MFD. There is a little white ( three pins if I remember correctly ) connector to the fan itself. You may want to pull ...

Re: MPF Fan
I had my PFD fan quit once. It was intermittent for a while and then quit completely. Same warnings. Expensive little gadget, for what it is, but easy enough to replace.

Re: Oil Temperatures
I use both the yellow chunk of tin and aluminum tape on the oil cooler in the winter in Calgary. Air temps are usually cold enough that keeping CHT's low is not a problem. Even so, when it is cold out, -10c or colder, the oil temp struggles to stay warm. The Yellow plate gets removed if it is above ...

Re: Winter Baffles
You folks need to fly in Calgary more and then you get real good at putting those yellow things in ! ( Marc aside ) All kidding aside mine are in steady at least 6 months a year and then in/out for another 2 months. I find they really help a lot with the oil temps. I would not likely find the green ...

Re: What is your typical climb oil temp?
Interesting topic as I have always wondered about my oil temp. Just checked a recent data file and my oil, CHT and EGT's are all reading very close at start up. Since I live in Calgary it should be no surprize that I struggle to keep the oil warm in the winter, sometimes hardly in the green during c...
