Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

When I was in the market for my first new aircraft, it was a choice between an SR20 and a DA40D, so I joined COPA and DAN's predecessor and learned as much as I could from existing owners. It became an easy decision, when I learned about their relative safety records, and the unreliability of the Av...

Sandy, the problem with publishing your email address in a public forum is that it will be scraped by spammers. Suggest you edit it, so it's not so obviously an email address.

Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing

Here's my tyre inflation kit. The bent wire on the right hand side of the kneeling pad was formed from a coat hanger and is used to grab the valve tube and pull it to the front of the access hole, so that the extender tube can be screwed on.

That kind of pettiness makes me wonder for whose benefit those issuing the STCs work. It would be hard to justify that restriction on safety grounds.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

I want to remind, that a group of DA40 owners was not considered in the last discussions. The DA40TDI owners were the first launching customers for the G1000 in GA but are now completely left standing in the rain. Although only a small number of owners have joined the petition, approx. 350 DA40 TDI...

Re: 1.7 Engines

In Europe, the 1.7 engines have to be replaced after 12 years, so there can't be many left to manufacture parts for. Is it different in the US?

New Cirrus Trainer

This could put a squeeze on Diamond in the trainer market:

Cirrus TRAC

No mention of prices, but it's a high-spec aircraft, so they seem to be targetting the professional pilot market, and it comes with multimedia learning courses.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

2. Diamond would be reluctant to give up the STC because it would remove much of the incentive for older DA40 owners to want to trade up to a newer DA40 with the latest avionics. How much incentive is there to trade up to a newer DA40 to get a software update, once you realise it's the only one you...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

I don’t count and I don’t trust DAI anymore. They can do whatever they want and they can announce whatever they want. I’m not interested any more. For me this is the end of story. I’m not wasting my time on DAI. It’s just layer of promises on top of previous layer of promises. By their behavior I c...
