Re: Canopy sliding window track screws

I ordered nylon flathead screws from an on-line source. I don't remember the size and can't find my order, but you should be able to put a good one on a screw gauge and figure out the size and if it is metric or not. Both black and white were available, but I stuck with the white. The replacements e...

Re: DA20-A1 Engine Shock Mounts

Hi Keoki, I should have a set of these. The part is Megi 785000. Conti makes then now. It is a little bit of a PITA to remove the old ones btw. The maintenance manual doesn't detail the R&R process. It's up to the user to figure out... Feel free to PM me. I replaced mine about 10 years ago. Due...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?

Has anyone actually done this, legally installed a different prop on a DA20-A1?
There are two of us in California in the same boat. I've been waiting over 6 months for what used to be a 2-week resurfacing.

Re: Landing Tips DA 20

While making a normal landing, come it at 60-65kts and level-off a few feet off the ground, pull the power and relax into ground effect. Don't fret about my 2100 RPM comment, that was just to ARREST a high sink rate.

Re: Effect of DA 20 Wheel Fairings

You can't do this on the nose wheel, but on the mains, you can have your mechanic grind the valve stem opening on the wheel pants a little larger, it makes a big difference. It also helps to paint a white stripe on the tires so you can tell where the stem is located as you reposition the wheels to a...

DA20-A1 Exhaust Springs

If your DA20-A1 is anything like mine, about every 3 months you find half of a rusted out exhaust spring under your plane while doing a preflight. These pesky springs are not expensive, but they have to put up with a lot and don't last very long. Here are a couple of tips I'm using to get more life ...

Aspen PFD in a DA20-A1

Diamond has documentation for installing the Aspen EFD1000 in the DA20-C1, but not the A1. And they won't share any documents on the C1 install either. The issue is how and where to mount the RSM {antenna module) on the composite airframe which Aspen hss no STC for. Has anyone out there installed an...

Re: Exhaust shroud noise

Well I finally got in there and checked the muffler donuts--all good. The SCAT hoses were worn and weak in places so I replaced them all and tightened everything up. The shroud is still a little loose, but not as bad as it was before I started. So far the noise has not returned. You are right about ...

Exhaust shroud noise

Lately, whenever I go blow 13oo RPM in my DA20-A1, my exhaust shroud rattles like crazy. It does not look like it is secured to the muffler anywhere, it just wraps around the muffler and is clamped together with 3 bolts. The entire muffler assembly was replaced about 4 years ago and was quiet until ...
