Re: Diamond China announce its own 'independently designed' domestic aircraft diesel engine, the 'AEC2.0L'

A Chinese made knock off of an Austro diesel. Sign me up. How about an Austrian made knock off of a German Mercedes diesel? (i.e., the core of Austro AE300/AE330 engines, ever since Austro used up its supply of Mercedes OM640 engines) The quality of these engines might not be much different, especi...

A Chinese made knock off of an Austro diesel. Sign me up.

Hope these don’t become the TBR replacement engines down the road.

Re: DA50 vs The World

I was thinking about this more last night. I believe that the DA40NG is by far the best behaved, safest, useful, awesome GA airplane out there. If it was only a little bit bigger, with a little bit more useful load and FIKI. Oh!!! that is also known as a DA50RG I think that the DA50RG has everythin...

Congratulations Emir! You have a great future ahead of you. I had 35+ years and wouldn't have traded it for any other career.

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

There have been several of us saying the same things for years. This attitude is cultural and was instilled by Christian Dries himself. Hoping for a big change from Diamond is a fools errand in my opinion. And yet some of you continue to fork out $1.5 million on a DA62 and expect something dramatica...

Re: Alternatives for Plexus

Several builders on the Van's forum highly recommend the Honda plastic cleaner/spray as a Plexus alternative. They claim it works just as well and is quite a bit less expensive. Honda P/N 08732-SCP00

Re: Prop governor

My 2003 DA40 with the Aluminum Hartzel PowerFlow Version prop is 1703 lb and 95.2. I've just replaced the aluminum prop with the Hartzel Composite. Awaiting the final numbers because the prop governor had to be overhauled when the new prop failed to make the required full power RPM. I am very glad ...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?

Opa Locka doesn’t have any spare Hoffmanns in stock. I would think an experimental DA20 wouldn’t lose too much value. Makes getting parts significantly easier. What parts would be easier to get? Owned a DA20 for many years, bought parts for the engine from Lockwood and many other components from va...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul & experimental airworthiness

Help! My Hoffmann prop on my 20A1-100 has excess play according to the mechanic. Time for overall is 6-10 months and about $8000. MT can get me a field approval and new prop & spinner for $10K, but again, October 2024 at the earliest to get it completed and then shipped from Germany. Anyone hav...

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

A little late now, but maybe the attempt to use an automotive engine designed to run at 15% power for most of it's life versus 75-90+% power wasn't the best idea. Poo-poo the ancient technology Lycomings all you want (and plenty have here) - but they are overall exceptionally reliable (especially th...
