Re: Best CG
I have both PF and the composite on my 2010 DA40. The biggest reason I went with the composite is repair time where it can be fixed relatively quickly in N. America and doesn't require as much down time as the MT. The CofG was the disappointing part where I thought I would see a useful load gain and...

Re: Winter Baffles
It is indeed tricky to get in and a disaster to get out. It makes the plane 1-2 knots faster (I checked). But I don't install it anymore because it made my temps go through the roof. Interesting you experienced such a rise in oil temp. Even with the baffle in my oil temp sits at the bottom of the g...

Re: Winter Baffles
The under wing (pilot side) is rectangular in shape and easily connects with a pin that turns and locks. The other plate goes on the passenger side air intake where there is again a spot for the pin to lock into. It blocks the the oil cooler inlet so you get warmer oil temps in the winter. As mentio...

Re: headset issues
Hi Nick,
Have you tried setting the squelch to manual and adjusting it a bit? I find the auto setting clips the conversations for the first second or two. I usually fly with the squelch in manual mode because of this, but then you do get a little background noise.

Re: Headset cord jams trim wheel
There are small indentations on the trim wheel and the cord was able to catch under one of them and stop the wheel from turning much like jambing the spikes on a gear wheel. I have a GFC700 so I am not sure if there is a difference in sensitivity. As soon as I pulled the cord out, the trim wheel tur...

Headset cord jams trim wheel
I thought I would pass this along as one of those to keep in the back of your mind things. I was flying yesterday and ATC cleared me to climb from 4,000 to 8,000'. I was a few hundread feet into the climb and it didn't quite feel right and I look down and I am getting 300'/min with climb power. Look...
