Re: DA40 GI-275 install FAIL!
Heads up I headed to LAC Avionics at KSJC last week and Alex Stockdale and Loyd showed a non-WAAS G1000/KAP140 equipped DA40 they were installing a Garmin GI275 to replace the backup Attitude Indicator. I questioned him about how he made it fit and he showed some electrical connector and mounting ...

Re: Starlink in Diamond
Thanks so much for the PIREP! I was just wondering about it this week, but not sure that would work for mounting on a DA40 glareshield with compass.

Re: DA40 GI-275 install FAIL!
I’m happy with the install of the GI-275 with a G500 TXi in my 2003 DA40 replacing the steam gauges. I installed it on the right side of the G500 which was installed slightly to the left of center for the 6-pack. There wasn’t room enough room (depth) available behind on the far left side behind the ...

I think SavvyQA is a good choice if you have a good shop you’re comfortable talking with.
I like EVA Flight Training academy for maintenance in NotCal. They have a fleet of about 10 Diamonds they maintain for their EVA airlines (Taiwan) training school including a DA20 and DA 42, but mostly DA40s ...

Re: Steam DA40 to Glass
If I had to do it today, I’d go with the JPI EDM 930, but my strategy is to wait for Garmin EIS support of the capacitive fuel senders. I put in a new VM1000 battery and inverter for the backlight hoping Garmin gives me that option within the next several years. I think I’d prefer a separate GI275 ...

Agree. I also find it very helpful and love how it aligns to personal minimums, too. It puts a lot of relevant info together in a way that I haven’t found other sources can.

Re: Fuel level indicator - VM1000 gauge upgrade
I was offered that as an approach by an avionics shop. I was told the G1000 equipped DA40s use resistive fuel probes. The cost was too prohibitive for me personally to make the choice requiring removing the wings and risk of cross threading during install the A&P IA planned into the estimate. And I ...

Re: Fuel level indicator - VM1000 gauge upgrade
If you have a reason to pull off the wings for another reason, you could go with the GI275 EIS if you replace the capacitive fuel probes with resistive.

=> Are these products from JPI and EI working with the capacitive probes of our DA40?
Yes for JPI. The JPI is EDM-900 OR EDM930 are. https://www.jpinstruments.com/shop/edm-930-primary/
I haven’t researched for EI, so I’m unsure about it.
