Re: DA-40NG Purchase Advice

I pull the co-pilot pedals all the way forward. My straps are adjustable. But once I got them right, it’s just a few seconds to install. As part of my post flight, I install the lock before getting out of the cockpit.

Re: DA-40NG Purchase Advice

I purchased a 2019 DA40 NG in 2022. I also wanted a modern safe airplane. I got ppl In 1979 and had not flown since 1980. Wanted a modern safe plane. It’s been a great decision. It had approximately 30 hours on it. I purchased it through a broker who had sold the plane to the owner when it was new. ...

Re: Fuel overflow right tank

The fuel from the left tank flows to the engine. The excess then flows out to to the right wing and through the right tank where it both warms the fuel in the right tank and cools the fuel so that it can be returned to the left tank. No fuel ever flows from the left tank to add fuel to the right tan...

Re: Tug for DA40 NG

Unfortunately, hangar spec in the ATL area is scarce. So, I’m on the ramp. My spot is on the edge, so, when my neighbor is tied down I can’t pull into my space. That requires me to back the plane in. I weigh about 162. I lean on the tail, raise the nose, and walk it back. Not perfect, but it’s relat...

Re: Reading ECU data from serial port

It seemed to take a long time. Maybe 20 minutes. I did pull the fuel pump breakers as part of the process. The laptop is old and the battery is not very good so I was concerned it would die before the task was completed. Also, the mechanic told me I did not want to run out of battery in the middle a...

Re: Reading ECU data from serial port

When starting the engine the other day, I had an ECU A and an ECU B failure. Damn. I am at an airport that does not have a Diamond mechanic. Fortunately, the good people at Special Services in Greenville, South Carolina, (an authorized repair facility) FedEx’d me the serial port connector (loaned) a...

Re: Alternatives for Plexus

I use plexus prist or zepp. Don’t have a good reason other than tradition. I originally bought plexus but it’s crazy expensive. My line guy gave me some cans of prist because FBO switched to zepp. I can’t tell the difference. When I use the Zepp it seems to work quite well.

Re: Want to Buy: DA-40 Wheel Fairings

Sanford Asman in Atlanta has a set. He had them refinished and before he could install them his plane was crushed by a tornado. Private message me and I’ll give you his number.
