Re: DA62, one year of bittersweet ownership
Posts in other threads have at times implied some sort of nefarious involvement by the CCP. Cirrus is very transparently a subsidiary of a state-owned company (Aviation Industry Corporation of China - AVIC) of the Chinese government. The Diamond owner experience is not a result of some hidden ...

Re: DA40 NG purchase now
These are great airplanes offered by a company which historically has treated owners poorly but now apparently wants to improve its customer relations. Is the warranty enough to sway new buyers? Wanfeng is multi-billion dollar industrial and services giant that clearly has plenty of resources ...

Re: Where to get dongle
According to the dongle manufacturer spec sheet, it uses a Phillips SJA1000 Stand-alone CAN controller chip.
The NXP SJA1000 is just the CAN interface chip, but that's not a USB interface. The dongle also has an NXP LPC1346 ARM microcontroller that provides the USB interface that the PCAN ...

Re: Where to get dongle
The AE Wizard software interrogates an undocumented parameter on the dongle to determine features to unlock in the software. It's likely that Austro got PEAK to flash a custom firmware on the dongle to allow them to be used as hardware unlock keys for the software.
According to the dongle ...

Re: Where to get dongle
I'm trying to source a dongle and looking at this part on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078VRJS5X
Appears to be the same dongle sold by Diamond (IPEH‑002021) for about a third of the price. I've got one on order and will report back if it works.
More than likely will not work. There's ...

Re: DA40NG N314KY Engine Failure
You were getting oil reports with close to zero metal, not even close to the danger zone in the MSB, yet your wife had a catastrophic failure just 30hrs after the last oil sample. This is a real heads up to everyone subject to MSB-039, MSB-043 and the associated ADs.
It's clear that Austro is ...

Re: Garmin Smart Charts
Garmin pilot has come along way in the past couple of years. It was unusable compared to ForeFlight for a while. I like the direction of Garmin Pilot and these smart charts are something I would expect from ForeFlight not Garmin so this surprised me. They are very well done.
Garmin will need to ...

Re: Diamondflyingclub.com
My browser identifies the web site as having Chinese characters that need translation. Not surprising as Diamond is Chinese but I think we are not used to having any communication coming from China.
Anyone joining up should make sure they have a browser 'Cookie Auto Delete' extension activated ...

Re: Diamondflyingclub.com
I don't see why Diamond Aircraft would want yet another contact channel... with existing DAN and DPA outlets so productively representing owners and pilots. Why doesn't Diamond become much more active in DAN and DPA?! Hmmm.
It'll be part of the damage control strategy. First was the ...

Re: Starlink in Diamond
If Weather Radar wasn't fitted, perhaps Starlink might work fitted inside the Radome.neema wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:26 pm
I'm still curious if the nose doors are GRFP. It'd be neat to stuff a starlink on one side and run a dedicated wire to it. Saves the clutter
