Re: Prop Damage

In addition to avoiding prop damage, a rolling take-off allows the aircraft to have more speed and more air going over the rudder before full power (and torque) is achieved, thus reducing the amount of foot work required on take-off.

Thanks, Karl. Which SB? This aircraft and engines were a Fall 2021 delivery.

Re: Governor

Recently I have been having problems which are likely a prop governor. At a high load setting the load will quickly drop a few per cent then recover to the original value. In the process, the engine vibrates like crazy if only for 3 or 4 seconds. The following replay, compliments of Flysto, show wh...

Re: Diamond Pilots Association 2023 Survey

Nigel, I regret any misunderstanding about how the survey results would be distributed. In the survey and the DAN announcement (at the top of this thread), we tried to make it clear that the survey results would only be available to DPA members, in addition to Diamond Aircraft and possibly Diamond's...

Re: Checklists and procedure plates

Laminated checklist - not a lot of need to refer to checklists during critical phases of flight. Foreflight charts on an iPad Mini using the mounts on the A frame with a Pivot Mount and the FS510 providing a moving map display on the plates for SID’s, STAR’s, approaches, taxi charts, etc. it is on t...

Re: Diamond Pilots Association 2023 Survey

DPA wanted to get as many responses as possible rather than limiting it to DPA members only . This provides not only a larger survey size but also avoids the accusation of a DPA only survey. This survey cost money to produce as DPA mailed over 1,000 post cards to Diamond aircraft owners around the w...

Great move. Pursue your dreams!

Re: BestTugs B5 vs B8 for DA62

I realize that it’s not a Best Tugs device but I having been using this for almost a year and love it (https://acairtechnology.com/). It easily handles a DA62 including on snow. What I particularly like is no hardware near the pointy nose of the aircraft as well as being able to have a close-up look...

Re: Canada Barely Passes ICAO Audit

The problem with Transport Canada is that they equate the amount of paper with safety…more forms, more documents, more regulations = increased safety. It is not. As Charles so nicely puts it, safety is an attitude, be it personal or corporate. No amount of SMS or manuals is going to change that. Wha...
