Re: First 100 hours of flying.

You mention a write up on the weather radar. Where do I find that? We just got a new DA42, and are still trying to work out best practice for using the radar.

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

It seems a bit strange - but according to the published tables the MH EDS give a longer duration at 10.000ft, a lower at 15.000ft and about the same at 18.000ft. Are you sure you are reading the table correctly? Reasonably sure yes. If you look at the greened out line in the table you copied in for...

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

The difference between the Mountain High (MH) system and using the supplied Aerox Oxysavers might not be so high. According to the AFM supplement for the built-in oxygen system, the duration for one person using the Aerox oxysaver cannulas on a full (50 cu ft) tank is 60 hours at 10.000ft, 50 hours ...

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

Thanks Chris. It can be a pain (and quite expensive) to get a refill, so if you reckon you can double or more the time between refills that sounds worth it. Getting a refill is a lot easier with a removable bottle - you can get it filled at any dive shop for a fraction of the cost any aviation outle...

Re: Mountain High for Built-In Oxygen System

I have been flying with a portable O2D2 system from mountain high in our DA40 for years, and I love it. Of course it is inconvenient mounting the bottle before flight, and having the extra cables floating around the cockpit - and if you have backseat passengers it gets quite cramped. But the advanta...

Re: RNP 1 and RNAV 1

Thanks. It's all a little confusing when digging into the details, and in particular since FAA, EASA and ICAO all seems to have slightly different takes on it. I was at ESKS last week, and there the Jepp charts (even for an ILS) state that RNP 1 is required for transitions (and it is not curved or a...

RNP 1 and RNAV 1

I see in the G1000 NXi supplement here; http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin/uploads/files/after_sales_support/DA42_New_Generation/Airplane_Flight_Manual/Supplements/70115e-A33-r5.pdf that the DA42 NG with NXi does not support RNP 1 (code O2), but it does support RNAV 1 (code D2). Does anybody kn...

Re: Da42 crash in Norway today

Based on flight radar data, and witness observations, things could point to this being a stall/spin accident. It was a school plane doing air work. But I am sure we will know more later. Incredibly tragic. 3 occupants on board, and the police have now said that they are no longer hoping to find surv...

Re: DA50 Owners: PIREPS Appreciated!

I also visited the DAI factory a few weeks ago (in connection with a DA42 we have on order, and taking a closer look at the DA62). While we were there we spoke to the customer of DA50 serial no 7 who was there to do acceptance flight. A Dutch guy who seemed really happy about the plane. I understood...

Re: Grounding points DA42

Our DA40 is a 2005 model and has those dedicated flat metal tabs behind the foot step on both sides. (It is definitely not an OAS sensor).

But my question is really on the DA42; if the tie down rings are connected to ground? Does anybody know?
