Re: Older legacy DA40 avionics upgrade options?

So I spoke with someone who is credible and performs such upgrades. Regarding the steam gauge legacy planes, a g3x, gtn 750, G5 package is available. This basically gives a new WAAS glass panel and leaves the KAP 140 and annunciator switches. I was told they can even upgrade the panel with an overla...

Older legacy DA40 avionics upgrade options?

Have there been any updates to avionics upgrade options for legacy DA40 aircraft? GFC 500? STC breakthroughs? I've spent the past year flying my DA42 simulator and would now like to purchase a used DA40. Used prices for WAAS G1000 are insane. I'd love to stick with the Diamond brand. Can a g3x inter...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

I used four types of audio systems to give the sim an immersive sound & feel. 1. Sonos surround system The soundbar and bass sub are outside of fuselage, and the two Sonos Play are mounted behind each seat. 2. Bose PC speakers are inside the fuselage, above the rudder pedals, mounted through the...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

Each wire is labeled with printable heat shrink tubing. All connecters were given a letter and number system. I made diagrams to help diagnose any errors that may occur in the future.

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

In order to organize the wires, I used 15 pin connectors to mate the panel with the plane. I reinforced with aluminum and laser cut polycarbonate for the plug cutouts.

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

Update on the DA42SIM. I finished the project roughly nine months ago and have 200 hours logged since. I've added VATSIM ATC which is a live controller service.

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

Dying to know where things are at on this project. I'm a new student pilot training in a DA40 NG and came to the board looking for desktop simulator setups for folks flying Diamonds. Clearly, this setup is on another level, but I a) need to know if you got this working, and b) would love an opportu...

Re: Purchased a DA 42 Simulator

Out of curiosity, where did you find/locate the serial number for your sim when you looked it up? We found one and are trying to figure out what we need for it. Thanks! I found the serial number on the back side of the panel. You'll have to remove the glare shield and pull the panel out. Mine also ...
