Re: What is this thing?
A wider picture would help to confirm. My first thought is that this looks like one of the two fuel drain ports, one under each wing. A third “pull to drain” gascolator located under the fuselage. AFM page 7-27 shows a schematic view of it. John Ewing’s DA40NG guide (which I relied on heavily in the...

Re: DA40 NG Checklist
Hi Lizette, I too used the CheckMate lists when I was training in a 172. Missing them.
I am interested. Can you ship to Toronto, Canada? Do you have a price in mind?

Re: DA40NG Frustrations
@nick, Diamond's sales strategy is a poster child for what not to do. I share your frustration. A fellow Diamond aviator recently opted out of Diamond DA50/DA62 and went with a Cirrus SR22T primarily because the sales support was night and day different. All that to say...you're not alone. But the a...

Re: G1000 NXi Phase III
No updates from Diamond. Still waiting patiently for them to schedule our next meeting. To Russ, Paul, and others patient enough to interact with Diamond on behalf of DAN...many many (many) thanks! (I feel your pain...despite having only had to deal with them for a short time as a new owner with a ...

Re: G1000 and VFR flying in Europe
Hi Mark, Congrats on the pending delivery of your DA40NG! I would suggest getting the additional databases for the G1000. In my first year of ownership, I opted to max out on the ForeFlight and Garmin subscriptions to give me the flexibility to try different preflight and flight deck procedures to s...

Re: Flying with Dogs
I’ve flown a few times with our puppy (maybe 6 months when we first went up?) The advice in this AOPA article was very helpful: https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2021/june/flight-training-magazine/dog-and-plane First time in the plane was just to get used to the airport noises. Then we ta...

Re: Considering New DA40 "NG"
Scott, I echo what Steve says. Got my DA40NG new in March. 80TT so far. Pricing: Used and new aircraft are rare, so didn’t have much luck getting a price break. Options: Mixed feelings. It’s now 20C to 30C in Toronto, so you’re guaranteed to sweat on the ground (especially if you’re doing full stop ...
