Re: iPad in DA40

All the Pivot products are awesome and it is what I use. I have a suction cup that mounts to the left of the pilot, on the canopy above the small window. I leave it there and have a pivot case on my iPad mini. The pencil is a bit of a challenge, but they make magnetic stick on holders that are to my...

Re: Electronic Aircraft Logbooks

I use CoFlyt only since I like electronic documents. Its really overkill but theyve been able to update things I wanted, like oil usage etc. It could just as easily be done w/ a simple notepad or on my iPad, but I really like having it on this system and give access to my mechanic for review as well.

Re: Garmin Marq Aviator Watch

I have the MARQ Aviator and really dont tend to connect it to the avionics. I like having a reasonable SP02 monitor for oxygenation, but it usually just creates other pilots to ask what I fly :-). I guess I COULD navigate with it if my eyes were better 🤣

Re: Shoes

I slip on a pair of Piloti driving shoes. I like the thinner sole, and usually wear flip flops everywhere else so keep them in the back!

Re: Rolling Hobbs Meter

Well - today was even more interesting..... I stopped by last night and thought I had figured it out....and today when my daughter went to fly it had rolled another 0.4 hours... BUT - it gets even more weird - post a 2 hour IFR X-country training flight with her instructor it only rolled 0.2 hours.....

Re: Rolling Hobbs Meter

I "THINK" I might have found it.

I have a USB adapter to charge my Sentry when I fly. I drove back and realized that it has a blue LED light on the Cig adapter, and that may be creating the same draw as the overhead light. Ill watch it!

Rolling Hobbs Meter

A few weeks ago, my battery died, although it was new 7 months ago. I hadn't flown in months and might have left something with a draw of power on in the cabin. During that period, my Hobbs meter rolled over 300 hours. Since I have flown weekly without issue, and it all seems to line up well. This w...

I carried a Jackery 500 that weighs 14lbs....tested it and it lasted well longer than two loads of ice (trip there and back). Add in some solar panels that fold up and you can charge while at destination if needed.

Re: Brand New Owner???

One other bit of info. Currently, it is much cheaper to buy a plane which is already WAAS capable than retrofitting WAAS on an existing plane. That's no longer true. It used to cost $20-$30K to add a pair of GIA63Ws to non-WAAS planes with only GIA63s, but with Diamond's upgrade program the cost fo...
