Re: G1000 Legacy & NXI Software Upgrades Announcement
Thanks for the heads up, How to get the process started? Nothing for owners to do right now except wait with anticipation until the updates are released. (The schedule targets are in the Diamond communication). The software installation will require a trip to your Garmin or Diamond Service Center. ...

Re: Sectional chart update cycles
I'm waiting for the furor when those that insist on paper charts find out they have to buy new sectionals every 8 weeks to be current. Of course I know a scary number of these folks blissfully fly with obsolete information. I think you can purchase the sectional map service which send you updated m...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXI Software Upgrades Announcement
Diamond Aircraft is sharing with DAN their path forward for 2021 software upgrade certification projects. Attached is a letter from Diamond announcing their plans for software upgrades for WAAS-equipped Legacy G1000 Diamond Aircraft and Phase II-equipped G1000 NXI Diamond Aircraft. CFIDave's "...

Re: Sectional chart update cycles

This was big enough (4GB download needs 10 GB to process) that I had to clean up the music I have on my 64GB iPhone to accommodate it. The iPads have plenty to spare. I expect this to be typica...

Re: Oil leak vs Grease leak MT prop ?
Bryan: Glad to hear that your prop is back! Looking at your photos, I noticed a couple things: your prop doesn't have the front spinner backing plate installed, and the cap screws on the hub aren't safety wired. Every time my prop has been overhauled (twice now) it came back from the shop fully ass...

Re: Oil leak vs Grease leak MT prop ?
Well, I don't think you will need new blades, so the only parts they would need would be the hub overhaul kit, which most shops that overhaul MT props have in stock. What time estimate did they give you when you asked them to work on it? I believe an actual overhaul also involves some blade work, w...

Re: Oil leak vs Grease leak MT prop ?
There is next to zero chance it’s oil. The crank flange is well aft of the cowling opening and the air flows rearward from there. It will surely be grease from one of the blade roots, cause for a prop reseal. Bryan's pictures show little evidence of leakage out of the blade seals. I've had several ...
