Re: MSB: oil pump replacement
My engine was affected and needs to have the pump replaced. Apparently this is preventative, there have been no failures to date because of the bad oil pump (I was told). Diamond is shipping out the new pumps in the next few weeks. It's quite an elaborate job to replace the pump unfortunately. As wa...
Re: 35% ??
This is very helpful. Is there an optimal power setting to set if you lose a turbocharger in the NG? I'm wondering if this is the mechanical failure that is addressed by the AFM Checklist under: [ECU A & B failure checklist - Indicated LOAD unchanged, perceived thrust is reduced, engine noise le...

Re: DA40NG Lost Engine in IMC
Thanks Dave. I got a DA40 NG a month ago. Loving it thus far, but for obvious reasons am interested in tracking this issue. If you hear more please let us know. The pilot in this incident told me he went back up and flew that very same day. We recreated the flight when I flew with him. Obviously, he...

Re: DA40NG Lost Engine in IMC
Hi - has anyone heard an update on this? I actually had the opportunity to fly with the instructor pilot in this incident. This was a few months ago, and they did not have any additional information.

Re: DA40-NG comparrison to DA40-XLS
Just a bit more feedback after owning the NG for 6 weeks. I have about 40 hours thus far in the plane. It has been fantastic so far. Here is the good and bad: - handling is amazing - there is a lot of misinformation about climb rate. Full fuel, with myself and a passenger on board, we are climbing o...

Re: Diamond Share Experience
I agree with Boatguy on the $250/hr cost. With interest/capital cost included --- I believe you are close to that number. That said, bringing on members increases your total hours, and spreads the fixed cost, hence lowering the hourly cost of the plane. At 400 hours/yr I believe the cost of operatin...

Re: DA 40 NG Maintenance Costs
That's super helpful, thank you Russ. The other option that I have been debating is to sign up for Savvy MX and use them as a resource to help me manage the shop (and ensure things are reasonable). I'm leaning in that direction. Based on my model, PP adds about a $20/hr premium (understandably, they...

Re: DA40-NG comparrison to DA40-XLS
I spent a lot of time researching this issue and finally purchase a DA 40 NG. I have over 100 hours experience in the XLS. I'll state that the NG and the Austro engine is amazing --- so happy with the purchase. If anyone is going through the same decision process - feel free to reach out to me. I've...
