Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway

Did Diamond ever release the cause of the engine failure on the DA40NG that made it back to the airport in NJ, or was it NY?

Re: DA40NG difficult start following prop repair and associated hand turning

Since I keep my DA40 Ng in a community hangar and the FBO tows it, I frequently have to rotate the prop if one of the blades has stopped in the down position. I emailed Diamond support and they said it was OK, just rotate in the normal direction. Haven't experienced any startup issues.

Re: Practicing engine out gliding in a DA40 NG

I made a mistake using 10% power. That is about right for a DA42 with the prop feathered. Not possible on the DA40 NG. In any event power won't go below 10% above 8000' so difficult to practice this in my area. Using the AP is standard procedure on the PC12 with an engine out. You basically glide to...

Practicing engine out gliding in a DA40 NG

OK friends. What am I missing. Last week a friend and I decided to practice engine out gliding in my DA40 NG. Since I fly out of Driggs, Idaho, we could only practice climbing to 10,500' and descending to 7500'. I put my autopilot into FLC mode, set speed to 88 kts, and ALT to 7500. Power to 10%, bu...

Re: Air Inlet Plugs (Alternate Air, Air Inlet R/L Wing, Air Inlet)

I have the Bruce's cowling cover as well as the covers that came with the plane for pitot and stall warning. I think anything else would be overkill and possibly a flight risk. Just more things to miss on preflight. Spend your money on sheepskin covers unless you are over 6' in which case you may no...

Re: Thoughts after 1 year of owning a DA40NG

Alan: Thanks for your Pirep. I've owned a 2019 DA40 NG now for 3 years and while I love flying the plane, I'm thinking of selling it. I keep it in Driggs, Idaho - a long way from a Diamond service center. While I've avoided the engine issues, I'm always worried that an MSB will ground me. Just not s...

Re: Garmin DB Mgr does not work with MacOS Ventura

I have an M1 MacBook Pro with Ventura 13.0.1 running Garmin DB Manager 22.12.8

Just updated my databases to an SD Card and everything seemed to work fine. A little too cold here to head over to Driggs to see if the G1000 Nxi takes it. Minus 18 F this morning.

Re: Customer Survey - Diamond Aircraft 2022

Well even though I purchased my bird through a distributor Diamond no longer has authorized, Diamond has my email through their tech pub notification service. Didn't receive the survey either for my 2019 DA40 NG.
