Re: Tail tiedown hook
Good stuff here, folks. Thanks for the pics and advice. So, couple questions... not knowing what a soft shackle is, I did a little search and I'm wondering what the benefit is of that, as opposed to "the knot of your choice" recommended by Russ. And, not being a rock climber I had to look ...

Tail tiedown hook
Club aircraft that is tied down outdoors. I'm curious if anybody has a recommended tiedown hook that fits easily into the hole in the tail fin. We've been using a hand made two-part U-hook that has a bolt through the hole in the tail into a welded nut on the other side of the U. It works well but is...

Re: RPM fluctuations

Re: VM1000 fuel totalizer
I have found the fuel gauges to be very unreliable. For the life of me, I can't understand why they installed gauges on 20 gallon tanks that only indicate a max of 17 gallons, but that's another story. The inaccuracy of the fuel gauges is the problem. OTOH, the fuel computer on the VM1000 I have fou...

Re: RPM fluctuations
Thanks all for this input. Recently the plugs were cleaned and re-gapped. Problem stopped. But...more recently, it is starting to recur in a little less dramatic fashion but still...
Will suggest some of these diagnostics. Thx.

RPM fluctuations
This intermittent problem seems to happen mostly (but not ALWAYS) when starting a warm or hot engine. After starting and setting the RPM at about 1100 RPM, the RPM momentarily drops to about 880 and then immediately climbs back up to 1100. When left alone, it will continue this cycling approximately...
