DA40 G1000 Most Recent Revision?

This is probably covered in the lengthy "Outdated software" thread but I'm too lazy to wade through that. Other than the NG, which I think uses the G1000 NXi, what is the DA40's most recent G1000 software and Pilot Guide revision number? I've searched and I'm not seeing anything newer than 0321.2 fo...

Re: EFB bashing whiners

One current inconvenience that will be simplified in about a month is for initial flight plan loading and in-flight reroutes. This requires entering things both in FF (easy) and the GNS530W. With the pending installation of the Flighstream that will be somewhat simplified. This task, like everythin...

Re: EFB bashing whiners

This Boomer - though not as old as you - agrees about 95% with you. January will be 9 years that I have used an EFB. When the paper charts I had at that point expired, that was the end of them. And, yes, I have had my iPad GPS go TU. Complete non-event. The 5%? I went back to pen/pencil and paper fo...

Re: Just Discovered GTN 750

I've been flying with a 750 in some airplanes for a few years. It is an excellent nav box.

Re: Jeppen vs. Garmin nav data

It doesn't matter to most people, but one substantive difference deals with ILS OR LOC instrument approaches. The Jepp database used by Garmin does not include the LOC specific stepdown waypoints on the final approach segment. The Garmin database has them as separate ILS and LOC approaches. It's a G...

Re: DA40 without vs with A/C - different checkout??

I would expect there to be some minor procedural or performance changes reflected in the AFM Supplement for the system. I would think a ground session would be sufficient to review them but I don't make policy for OpenAirplane or any of its member FBOs. Not OpenAirplane, but I've seen something simi...

Re: Filing Direct

No reason not to try. There might be some routing issues near busier areas - if you are flying out of metro Denver, for example the PLAINS SID is common. But in a lot of that area direct routings are common. There is the AIM guidance of selecting at least one waypoint in each Center but not everyone...
