Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

I think shirts are in order with the Diamond Logo and: "Diamond Aircraft-easiest aircraft to fly...hardest aircraft to own".

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Update: Still flying plane with cracked "drilled" canopy. Had to order a new one which will come in sometime in March. Crack was too far from edge to qualify for a repair.

Re: Diamond Owners Being Taken Advantage Of - Maintenance

My first annual 2018 DA42 was $4,478. labor $2700 (30 hours at $90), customs fees $120 (because no parts stocked in US) 100 kit $1,314, filter element gearbox $344. But.... this shop is not taking anymore new customers here in the DFW area.

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Still no luck so far finding someone willing to fix the canopy. The local folks don't want to touch it because they don't know how it will come out. It's in a non-critical place so fixing is way better than the estimated $14K to replace. Anybody know any shops that have experience in plexiglass repa...

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Yes under warranty. No. I pressed on it leaning into the canopy trying to get a cover on in a high wind. It bubbled in and then popped back out and cracked.

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Update: All Diamond will do is to give me a 15% discount on a new canopy. It's been drilled now so I can fly again. Checking with local windshield (lear and cessna) place to see if they think they can repair it. It's just an unknown how well the repair will work out. https://drive.google.com/file/d/...

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Thanks everyone, as my experience so far Diamond Customer Service has been "lacking". As to the insurance claim, if they don't cover it, I would but.... I'm so low time insurance was difficult to get to begin with so I'm not going to file it. I'm in TX. Let you know how this turns out. So ...

Re: Cracked Canopy Repair

Thanks Don. I have the instructions. The problem is I can't seem to find anyone who will repair it.

It has not moved since I cracked it. According to the repair guide (diamond), they now want a 3/32 hole. Everybody else says 3/16

Thanks!

Cracked Canopy Repair

According to the manual, you can repair cracks up to 6". However, I can't seem to find someone that does this work.

I pushed too hard on my new bird and cracked the canopy on the pilot side. It's 2.75" long.

Any thoughts?

Re: Diamond Aircraft Owner's Seminars/Panels/Training/Fly-ins?

Thanks for the NXI info. That was really a suggestion for a topic relating specifically to our aircraft. Would love to hear from others that may have attended other events or specifically what they would like to see offered.

Thanks! Brian
