Re: A very big deal -- FAA Approves G100UL for ALL GA piston spark-ignition aircraft
Im very much looking forward to buying unleaded gas. It is not practical to have more than one grade of fuel at an airport. 100ul works in every engine. Those folks with high performance planes need higher octane. This makes 94ul a non starter. As has been pointed out, you won’t need to change oil a...

Re: Avionics Bus Max Voltage and Protection
I fried my 24V BKool portable A/C by running it from the accessory plug. I moved to two lithium motorcycle 12v batteries in series. I am curious as to how well an O2 concentrator works at altitude where the partial pressure of O2 might be much lower than at the elevations these devices are designed ...

Re: Schauer Charger Cooked Batteries
that's de-sulfating. This is what Battery Minder claims to do -- sending pulses of current so that sulphur crystals formed on battery plates dissolve. I note that there is some skepticism regarding whether or not this actually works. However, my own experience does confirm it -- when I moved from a ...

Re: Fatal UT accident appears to be DA40
Dan Gryder is certainly entitled to air his views and make money on YouTube. He doesn’t get it right very often. He spreads erroneous info and doesn’t do his homework. I personally don’t like his constant strategy of promising to address a topic at the beginning of the video but moving on to irrelev...

Re: Polish for the prop spinner and exhaust
My experience is that Filtz works very well on the spinner but not as well on the exhaust. I tried these products on the spinner and they were decidedly inferior to Filtz. Filtz can actually be used to remove scratches as it contains some sort of rubbing compound.

Re: Fatal UT accident appears to be DA40
I'm working on my glider rating and I have learned that thermals can be your friend. I have used Thermals off mountains near Cedar City, Elko NV and Palm Springs to climb to cruise altitude. The DA 40 does a great imitation of a glider, no doubt due to its roots in motorized gliders. Does not work v...

Re: Fatal UT accident appears to be DA40
Really sad accident. The previous flight from Spanish Forks shows ample evidence of imprecise flight not at VFR altitudes and poor speed control. Have flown out of this airport many times on my way to and from Montana. Many times at very high density alt due to summer heat but never anywhere near ma...

Re: GAMI INJECTORS
Unfortunately, the FAA is doing its level best to sandbag the GAMI STC. First, they asked for an audit of the certification file. Then they asked for a cover report summarizing the audit and now they want to set up a Technical Advisory Board to delay it further. G100UL is a dropin solution -- you ca...

Re: Feeling overwhelmed with the DA40
Rich I think you misinterpreted what I said. I’d leave the AP out in the very beginning as you get to know the plane. As you get more comfortable with hand flying work in simple AP stuff. I felt overwhelmed by the confluence of a very different plane and so many different systems. There was no gps a...
