Re: Older DA 40 Wanted as First Airplane

Fresh on the market is my 2004 DA40. It’s a gem, incredibly well cared for, hangered it’s entire life, never a trainer or flight school aircraft, maintained by a Diamond service center, fresh annual in December, GTX345 adsb in/out, GDL69, 700 hours on the motor and prop. $265K, negotiable. Give me a...

Re: Hartzell Prop Seal Leaks

Great info, Steve. Thank you. Can you go into more detail about AS5 grease, temps and bad things happening? My mechanic has always used AS5 grease, never said anything about temps, and we fly regularly here in the Midwest where the temps in the winter can be in the single digits and teens.

Hartzell Prop Seal Leaks

For a little while now my 2 blade Hartzell prop has been slinging a little grease from the seals. It’s just enough to create a thin line of grease that arcs it’s way along the prop, and usually there is just a thin line or two on the front and back of both blades. This prop has about 1400 hours on i...

Re: High oil temp question.

You don't say anything about climb speed or fuel flow. With TO flaps the DA40 will tend to climb at a lower airspeed, though rate of climb still stays pretty high. I've found that a low-speed extended climb will produce higher oil temperatures. CHTs can be held in check with fuel flow, but not so w...

High oil temp question.

A fellow pilot recently took his DA40 up and forgot to raise the flaps up on the climb (no seriously, its not me just saying it’s someone else to save harrassment, lol). He climbed from sea level up to 6000 feet before he noticed the oil temp was in the yellow arc at 220 degrees, and after reducing ...

Re: Seatbelt Button Cracked, Replacement Part

Having this same cracked seat belt button issue I just purchased a set of two of these exact extenders last week. They work perfectly, make it easier to get buckled in, and actually match the factory buckle perfectly. Sharing because some of the buckles out there are different and would not be compa...

Re: Individual knobs for G1000 Displays Available

My range knob on the PFD seems to cause random changes to the map inset range instead of the predictable increments. I’m not sure if changing the knob will fix this but I might try. How did you remove and replace that particular knob since it has the push cursor joystick control as well? If your kn...

Re: Individual knobs for G1000 Displays Available

Update: received the Range Knob faster than expected from Sarasota Avionics. Knob is clearly a genuine Garmin component and came with the metal D-ring on the inside. Installed easily with a firm push. I would definitely order these with confidence. Thinking of ordering a couple more to replace a cou...

Individual knobs for G1000 Displays Available

Just wanted to share with everyone that Sarasota Avionics sells individual Garmin G1000 knobs and various kits of packs of knobs. I just ordered the infamous range knob for my MFD for $26. Ive heard a lot of people on here searching for solutions frustrated that Garmin will only sell you a $200 pack...

Re: Upholstery

I’d love to hear more about experiences and costs as well as we should do our interior soon. Any recommendations in the Midwest or Southeast would be appreciated.
