Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?

-Tim I don't disagree the TTx was assembled in Kansas, I believe that to be 100% the case. Matter of fact I'm unaware of the model ever being assembled (or produced) in Mexico. The TTx manufacturing I'm referring to is the actual composite structures, like wings for example, that Cessna openly claim...

Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?

I’m no industry insider, this is just what Textron’s announcment sounds like where I’m standing. But I’ll help you polish some of these counter arguments: . . . they moved production back to the USA after the fiasco in Mexico. This costs a pretty penny; that would have been the perfect excuse to kil...

Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?

The takeaway I'm reading from last year's sales: 1) Cessna is terminating production of the TTx after having sold 23 units last year. Keep in mind that is more composite constructed, low wing, high performance singles than Textron sold G56s and B58s. I have a sneaking suspicion Textron bought the Co...

Re: DA40NG

What you really mean is that the Power Flow exhaust results in less of a reduction, but it does not increase the engine's horsepower. This is just semantics isn't it? The end result is the same; more power available to produce thrust. Do we agree Lycoming is baselining the IO-360-M1A at 180 hp when...

Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?

Cirrus - great handling qualities at the bottom of the speed envelope, and a nice soft break at stall. Total non-event  The kind of aerodynamic handling qualities that protect pilots from mistakes, great flight school choice :thumbsd:

Re: DA40NG

The future of avgas will be a large discriminator for me. The lack of updates from the FAA on PAFI doesn't instill confidence in their test results. But Diamond could persuade this buyer a whole lot easier if they certified the AE330 for the NG. Better still, I'd like to see Diamond adopt the OM 654...

Re: DA40NG

Would I have traded in my XLS to go to an NG? No way, not worth it. But now that I am soon to be in the market again, on balance I think the NG has won me over. Best two sentences I've read about the NG, thank you for sharing. I sure hope I can score a chance to fly one when I move to Alabama this ...

Re: DA40NG

Does anyone know of fatal accidents caused by stall/spin in a DA40-180? There was one likely stall-spin in a DA40F in 2016 (Utah), and the crash in Peru in 2013 is also a likely stall-spin. That's it in the NTSB database that I've seen, in over 15 years of production. In all fairness the examples i...

Re: Training market: Diamond or Cirrus?

Excited to see GAMA's year end report on February 23rd, really looking forward to combing the data for SEP sales. Until then, I thought this news was interesting given the recent activity in the 40NG thread. http://www.piper.com/piper-receives-largest-trainer-order-in-company-history-from-fanmei-avi...

Re: DA40NG

If so, then how were we cruising along at 150+ knots TAS yesterday on a 2 hour x-country flight in a new DA40 NG? Question if you don't mind Dave; What altitude and power setting was the NG doing 150 ktas? I ask because the lowest altitude I can determine per the NG's POH is between 12000-14000 ft....
