Re: How much is an autopilot worth?
Nigel used to be on this board as a DA40 pilot. When he was buying his plane directly from Diamond in London they said they were about to change autopilots from the KAP140 to the GFC700 and if he bought it without the KAP140 he could put the GFC700 in later. And then it was a $50k quote to install ...

Re: I-Pad Mini or regular?
I thought I would repost an old suggestion. For those of you that have a GFC 700 the area where the KAP 140 AP would have been is an option for the positioning of an iPad Mini. It's compromise because it does require heads down time. I use it because if I were ever to have a G100 failure I can swing...

Re: DIY - Repair broken window latches
Antoine, interestingly.... the original latches are being produced in Switzerland. Maybe you can score some there. They are called "Mecaplex" .... I've probably jinxed it by just mentioning this but here goes... the last two latches I have replaced are the new style from Diamond. The visi...

Re: My most recent post has disapeared
Hello Nigel, I have deleted the post this morning but didn't have the time yet to explain you my reasons. Your post referred to a product of a former member who was banned for promoting and selling his product on this board. I have asked him a few times not to do that, deleted his post and initiall...

Re: EGT - why do you keep them so cool?
What kind of altitudes do you get the numbers above at? And do you have a powerflow exhaust? I see your plane has the Hartzell metal prop, correct? With my travel patterns I rarely get above 8500ft. Most of my trips are short and I am between 4500 & 7500 feet. I'm VFR only. I have the standard ...

Re: EGT - why do you keep them so cool?
Antoine, I too generally fly with higher EGT's. I usually cruise at WOT, 2200 RPM, 8.5 GPH yielding about 37 KTS. EGT's average about 1450

My most recent post has disapeared
Hey Kai, I posted an Item this evening about the tow bar protecters I mounted on my DA40 but it seems to have disappeared. Any idea what may have happened to it?
Cheers,
Nigel.

Re: Alternate Air
But what about "rain" and simply "moisture". Does anyone have any background that would explain the thinking around those? I am interested in establishing for myself a policy on use of the alternate air, but I need more background. Any help? The precaution may be that if there i...
