Re: G1000 Legacy & NXI Software Upgrades Announcement
...Slight clarification: ESP functions whether or not the AP is on, but it can be disabled before flight via the AUX page. USP only kicks in if the AP is on... Just to be super picky, you are correct that USP is only available with the autopilot engaged, but ESP is only available with it disengaged...

Re: DA62 - 2013 discussion of 210kts
Vortex generators on the outboard of the wings likely add considerable drag. dgger lost 3-5 kts when adding a full wing of them to a DA42NG. (see https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5165&hilit=vortex+generator&start=20 ) The DA62 has fewer of them, but flies conside...
Re: 35% ??
... the AFM suggests that you decrease thrust to idle and then set to maximum perceived power, not to exceed 1975 RPM? Although this checklist item suggests the engine can produce 65% under this scenario? At 1975 RPM, you may be lucky enough to reach 65% power at sea level. From the AE300 operating...

Re: DA 42/62 Training
Just so you know, having owned both, the DA42-IV and DA62 are configured nearly identically and fly nearly identically (same wing, different wingtips). You should feel confident jumping right into the DA62 after getting a multi rating in the DA42-VI. The only hitch is getting the minimum hours of du...

Re: Jack Pads
I've used the Bogert Tribal jack numerous times to jack the wheels so I can replace air in the tires with nitrogen. Easy to do on the mains, but you need to brace the nosewheel straight, or it will twist off of the jack as you raise it. Easier to just push the tail down and hold it with a strap and ...

Re: Coolant leak
I learned during the Austro/DA42 Maintenance course at the London, Ontario factory that the mechanic servicing the coolant system needs to massage all of the blue coolant lines as the coolant system gets refilled to get all air out of the system, then do it again after an engine run, then top off. P...

Re: Coolant leak
COOLANT LO message is not uncommon for a cold Austro engine. It does need to extinguish once warmed up. I flew my DA62 for about 50 hours with that issue on my left engine, and it always went out prior to the oil temp rising to within the green band. Serviced at annual, I have not had an issue since...

Re: DA42-6 Airworthiness Limitations / Engine TBO
About 26 hrs to the London, Ontario factory where they install all of your North America stuff (Sirius/XM weather, etc.), plus whatever it takes to get it delivered to you from there.

Re: DA62 RACC system performance
Concur with all of the above. JetShades are the best. I operate the RACC system only at its maximum output (fan at the highest setting, temperature at its lowest), and have observed the same performance as Dave - zero difference in cruise speed between the system turned off and operating at max blast.
