But it's easy to creat a gust lock that works with the pedals full forward.

Original & modified compared. That's a piece of wooden mop handle inserted:

Re: Prop Damage

Let me just say a rock chip on the leading edge is an 8k repair at American Propeller Service and it takes time! Go carefully all. It can be. It depends on the extent. I had one like this that was just barely bad enough to require this treatment and it was this expensive when including shipping - i...

Re: Lightspeed Delta Zulu

Unique experience today. A firmware update (???) for the Delta Zulu  Well, now. My flight a few days ago found the headset repeatedly saying "Battery Charge Full". Annoying - like "are we there yet?" It used to just do this once per startup. I queried LS, and wadda-ya-k...

Re: NXi Phase 2 airway workaround

Good workaround that I always use with my FF/FS210/GNS interplay. It's super-common for ATC to issue shortcuts like this.

Re: Engine overhaul time - Lycoming IO-360-M1A

"Snugged up" is the right term. Takes only a few minutes and only requires removal of the upper cowling. It's possible this happened as a side effect of your most recent work, but it is often overlooked. Remember here on the site Matt just went through a misdiagnosis of the source of an oi...

Re: Engine overhaul time - Lycoming IO-360-M1A

The issue was at the bottom end of the intake pipes near seal P/N 77569. Come to think of it, I have no idea why oil was visible on the bottom of the pipes on the induction housing. Could it have leaked from somewhere else and collected there? In any case, the seals were declared faulty and replace...

??? Trying to make sense of this. What gaskets are you referring to? The air intake pipes shouldn't have exposure to oil in the first place.

Re: Hourly cost of maintaing a Diamond DA40

My DA40 is 22 years old A couple of things that seem way off: My tires are 9 years old, maybe half worn?, with about 450 TO/LDG. Replacement has never been anything like 100 hours. Maybe if all hours are touch and gos? I have never done any paint work on my plane There are some small chips, but they...

Re: The glaring weaknesses in flight training

So what happens when one of these events happens without the pilot intending to do so - especially when you're all tensed up close to the ground? Startle/freeze and maybe crash/die. As if on cue for this discussion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5yt3lCQtSM Sad to watch... Actually it was the cue...
