Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

Great thread. I just picked up the plane from annual (at Premier in Ft Worth) on Monday, and it's suddenly developed this issue. Could well be an overfilled wing or aux tank -- the ramp guys at Meacham were less than careful on the last fill. But it's not dissipating, over the course of four flights...

Cleaning the weeping wing edge

Any advice for the best way to clean bugs and dirt off the leading edge of the wing? I'm concerned about grinding stuff into the tiny pores and blocking the TKS flow.

Re: Beringer Brakes

Aw, dammit. I just bought a complete round of new brakes and tires for N687DA. Had I known that Beringers were in the pipeline, I could have held off a couple of months.

Now, I guess I'll just have to wait for the new ones to wear out.

Re: DA62 oxygen outlet ports

All I needed, really, was the model number for the oxygen outlet. Mountain High says there are just four types; they need to know which one before they can kit me up.

Six messages in, and I'm still hoping for an answer to this.

Re: Insurance

Travers insures me, too. I'm not even going to tell you how much - it's truly terrifying -- but part of the cost is because I'm currently flying under Basic Med. Because of this, I am now highly motivated to get my Third Class medical back, so that will be happening in another month or so. I may dro...

Re: New DA62 x words of wisdom from seasoned owners

Do the benefits you describe as typically provided by Lifestyle need to be negotiated in advance, or are they extended to all Lifestyle customers? May apply to new aircraft. Read your DA62 new aircraft purchase agreement -- it's in there. :) I didn't get this service from Lifestyle. I flew from Sea...

DA62 oxygen outlet ports

My new-to-me 62 came with a busted-up jumble of O2 hoses, flowmeters, and cannulas. I'm replacing it all with new, clean gear -- everything from the ceiling ports all the way to the stuff that sits on your face. Mountain High is being very helpful. However, I can't order new hoses until I can tell t...

Re: New DA62 x words of wisdom from seasoned owners

I was putting in an order with Lifestyle in July when they got in a used one that met most of my spec. Since they were quoting me a Q3 2022 delivery at that point -- and I could get this one in October -- I cancelled the order and bought the used one. Looking at the ever-extending waits and rising p...

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option

I've been futzing with the W&B on my seven-seat 62 constantly for the past couple of weeks. The thing is really nose-heavy, to the point where you actually need a lot of extra mass placed well back in the plane if you've got big people in the front seats. I'm planning to yank my two back seats a...

Re: New DA62 On the Way!

I purchased a 2018 DA62 in July. (I take delivery of it in the next week or so.) The price at that point was just about at par with the new ones. The premium was worth it to skip the two-year wait.
