Re: DA42 TDI 100hr oil change near OWD
Colin I had the folks at Sandpiper Air at EWB go to get certified at Continental so they could do my current annual. It was a major one, replacing the gearboxes, timing chains etc. I’m super happy with the attention to detail they have been giving the plane. They used to do the annuals on my DA42 bu...

Re: Exhaust glow visible from pilot seat ?
It’s normal for these engines. Make sure the fire resistance cowling paint is in good condition though as high temperatures can cause problems if the paint has been flaking (which is common for all Diamonds).

Re: Does each engine have an 2 ECUs
As a follow up to this we found the tubing from the engine to the ECU's that monitor the manifold pressure had a leak at the barb fitting and clamp. It looked like the heat from the engine is causing the inner tubing to become brittle after12 years of operation and the barb fitting had worn through ...

Re: Jeppen vs. Garmin nav data
Can you cancel your Jepp subscription (and get $$ back) and get the Garmin subscription instead? I tried to get this done on my DA42 which had the Jepp chart software when I purchased it. Turned out that it was very difficult to find an Avionics shop that would give me any certainty that it would n...

Re: Does each engine have an 2 ECUs
Thanks for the recommendation guys. A trip to NY is certainly easier than Southtec or XU. I really need to get to the engine maintenance course and bring my A&P so he can troubleshoot this stuff.

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up
Just got to reading this thread today. You can sign me up for the petition too but I will not be holding my breath for a resolution soon. Inevitably whether in automotive software or aviation software there is just no support for older avionics to be constantly upgraded in this economy as was done i...

Re: Does each engine have an 2 ECUs
I had a warning for both left engine ECU’s just after I took off today. No abnormalities in engine power or speed was observed so I assumed it was a sensor fail. I expect it would have been very rare to have both ECU’s fail simultaneously so I did not panic. I laned fine, shut down, restarted and th...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up
Scott- you can also sign me up. I would like to think that Diamond would support continued upgrades to our avionics but it appears that for many years Diamond had been holding on by a shoestring while sales declined. I remember when I bought my DA40 in 2006 how the factory was buzzing and then going...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40
Congratulations- I can’t believe how such a long and painful process that was. No DA40 for me any more but I hope a few people take advantage of this. Looks like a great performance upgrade. The ability to fly higher and faster will be great.
