Re: Duke pump replacement with a Weldon

Interested in knowing how your DA-20 likes the new pump. Hi Mark, my DA-20 likes the new pump. The new pump makes more noise than the old Duke pump, I can audibly confirm that it is working at startup. The RPM doesn't drop significantly when I turn the pump on. All engine parameters appear to be ot...

Duke pump replacement with a Weldon

I am posting this in the hope that it will be useful to someone. So it is my airplane's turn to have a leaking electrical dual speed Duke fuel pump. We are ordering a brand new Weldon pump P/N 18052-2A and the install kit P/N 18052-kit from XU Aviation. The cost is 3000$ CAD, (2300$ USD) plus taxes ...

I used white spray paint used on refrigerators and such for touch ups. Worked well.

MT Prop: How much rain is too much?

Last week-end while flying over mountainous terrain, I flew though misty rain which did not affect visibility. The MT propeller has a metallic leading edge and thus is not affected/damaged as much by rain as the Sensenich propeller that came with the airplane. That was one of the reasons why I insta...

Re: 29 DA20s, 7 DA42s, 5 DA 40s tragically for sale

I’d be interested in a da40 if others want to get together and put an offer in. From our experience in 2008 - 2011, inventory from flight schools will go for a lot less than people think. supply is essentially unlimited and demand is 10% of what it was 1 short month ago. I bought my Da20 for $55k i...

Re: The grass isn't always greener...

why spend money upgrading other avionics in a da20? Sorry for the late reply. Good point. On the Bendix King KX 125 radio, the backlighting does not work anymore, and with my eyesight I am having trouble reading the digits. I am planning to replace the unit with a more modern nav/com, or perhaps a ...

The grass isn't always greener...

I am still trying to figure out whether I will keep my DA20-C1 and commit $$$ on a major avionics upgrade or sell it and look for a more capable airplane (light ifr capable, autopilot, more comfy for my girlfriend). So last Sunday I flew in a 1967 Mooney Ranger. Beautiful airplane, but not that much...

Re: DA-20 prices high, no inventory????

Da20s are a great value. Mine is probably worth at leadt twice what I paid for it three years ago. But it is also in better shape than it was when I bought it.
