Re: GFC 700 upgrade (from The G1000 project - "The next step")

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

I just got the GFC700 upgrade installed in my DA42. Diamond Quoted 350 hrs for the job. It took them longer. There is a lot more to changing the autopilot than we imagine. Not a simple upgrade. I have no regrets, no comparison to the KAP140 I believe that the resale value increased as much as I inv...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

I have been on the “lookout” for a pair of GIA63W LRUs for some time. I finally located, and purchased, a pair. I took them to a Garmin dealer and asked that they be sent to Garmin to be overhauled and recertified, as required, for which I was willing to pay, of course. Garmin flat out refused to t...

Re: G1000 KAP 140 NAV to APR transition question

I believe my problem is with the G1000. It indicates that it has "changed nav source" when it makes the switch from term to LNAV. I have activated the approach and the KAP140 it is tracking the approach as is should. Once the G1000 "changes nav source" it dumps the connection to the KAP140, as it sh...

Re: G1000 KAP 140 NAV to APR transition question

I have been having trouble with the KAP140 as it behaves fine in NAV mode for cruise flight, but I haven’t been able to get it to fly a GPS approach properly. When flying the GPS approach I get to the IAF with the KAP140 in NAV mode; in the approach it tracks the first leg and I set APR mode. Once i...

Re: Potential New DA62 Owner

Reading this thread and the comparison with the SR22T I wonder, if not a Meridian would be the right comparison. It all depends on the type of flying you want to do. If you want a comfortable aircraft strictly as transportation to fly your family to your destination, with the ability to cruise in p...
