Re: DA40 180 G1000 WAAS UPGRADE
FWIW, I had acquired a pair of GIA63W LRUs that I had wanted Karl Gardner, at FFC, to install in my 2005 DA40, but I wanted him to first have them first checked out by Garmin, for which I was ready to pay. Garmin refused to touch them.

Re: Confusing Clearance
Leaving Appleton last summer after AirVenture, headed for KPDK (Atlanta) with an intermediate fuel/lunch stop at Bloomington, IN (KBMG), I filed my IFR flight plan, as set out in the NOTAM (which called for initially heading west toward DLL). My clearance, though, was Radar Vectors - DELLS - as file...

New travel metric
With the cancellations of airshows, conventions, and much business travel, other than quick, local trips, where is everyone going in their planes these days? A new metric, based on the observation that luggage prices are about 50% (or less) what they had been, while the prices of wine coolers are ab...

Re: Using a hangar winch with a DA40
@soarer20 I made a YouTube video showing the winch that I used and how it's installed. You can see it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BShoqQG2G8 I responded there to a request for further information, as follows... In order to install the winch (a Harbor Freight 2500# 12v winch that comes with a...

Re: g1000 attitude indicator replacement
@Davestation It doesn't matter whether or not Garmin "blackballs" Diamond, as that cannot really happen, as Diamond and Garmin deal with each other as any party deals with a supplier. The issue of "blackballing" only relates to the installation/service of Garmin equipment in cust...

Sound familiar?
I have already posted my dissatisfaction and dismay about Garmin’s outright refusal to test and recertify (if necessary) a pair of GIA63W LRUs that I had purchased, notwithstanding my expressed willingness to pay them. Accordingly, I could not help noting the similarity expressed in this online post...

Re: 29 DA20s, 7 DA42s, 5 DA 40s tragically for sale
Notwithstanding the abuse that these planes have obviously experienced, at the right price they can probably be given new paint, engines, and interiors, although they do all seem to have significant airframe times. I’m an attorney in Atlanta, so I am quite familiar with (what was) Falcon Aviation Ac...
