Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement
There is a new section in the August 10 release of AIP Canada dealing wth ADS-B. Here is an interesting bit: "..., some customers have identified that they may not be able to meet the equipage requirements in time for the mandate effective date and, in some cases, they may require additional ti...

Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement
Zippity doo dah, zippity day. My, oh my, what wonderful day. At least I think so. My DA40 xls with a GTX345R seems to have passed the test. Here is the report. The only thing I understand is the word "Acceptable". Look okay? PAPR-0001880-C08291-1.pdf Comparing my report to Ed's I have pass...

Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement
Here's an odd result - my hangar partner tried it in his P210, no diversity and passed. He has a Garmin 335D, but only one antenna (bottom) installed.
I was down for a prop overhaul so I have not tried this yet. I'll try next week and report.

Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement
I think this is new information. It appears that the ADS-B equipment standards in Canada can be satisfied by a performance test. On July 17, 2023, TC published ADS-B equipment standard 551.103: https://tc.canada.ca/en/corporate-services/acts-regulations/list-regulations/canadian-aviation-regulations...

Re: Canada ADS-B Diversity Requirement
Class B in Canada is 12500-17999 in places. It is possible to cross over the Canadian Rockies above 12,500 without entering Class B. But that does not really help very much unless it is VFR conditions. This is still a crazy mandate.

Re: Full forward trim
Having the wheel far forward in cruise is pretty normal in my experience. As I understand it, the tail generates downforce to compensate for the wing’s pitching moment. Pitching moment depends on angle of attack. When the aircraft is traveling faster, angle of attack deceases. You have to look at th...

Re: Comm Gremlins
I just found this post after experiencing what sounds like a very similar problem. It occurs only at my home airport and only in some consistent spots on the ground and possibly at low altitudes. I typically have tower on COMM 1 and ground on COMM 2. I can see the RX light up but at most I hear weak...

Hadn’t heard “Lycosaurus” before . But that’s practically the whole engine debate in a nutshell.michael.g.miller wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 5:18 pm […The Lycosaurus engines are antique and finicky, but there's a lot less to go wrong. …

Re: Slip With Flaps
couldn't a slip with full flaps negatively affect the airflow over the control surfaces resulting in the risk of unintended spin? I believe a big distinction is that Cessna stabilizer and elevators are located below the trailing edge and closer to the wing “wake” and therefore more likely to suffer...

Re: A very big deal -- FAA Approves G100UL for ALL GA piston spark-ignition aircraft
At the risk of brushing up against the political “no go zone”, I think it is safe to say the Transport Canada will take years to figure this one out. I think Diamond will leave it to owners to obtain the STC stateside.
