Re: Flap control module lamps
Have you checked the micro switch mounted on the actuator or the wiring to the switch? The landing position switch is S5 which is the LH FWD one.

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?
Hi John, It is a straightforward swap, nothing else to replace. I've not flown the aircraft myself but the instructors tell me that for normal cruise power settings they are getting at least an extra 5kts airspeed, probably a bit more. Climb performance is also better but I can't quantify that. They...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?
Due to the Hoffman issues and previous good experience with MT propellers I installed an MTV-21 propeller on one of our flying school DA20-A1 aircraft. There are EASA STCs for it but I don't know about the FAA. Pilots report that the aircraft performance is better than with the Hoffman. Lead time fo...

Re: Flap control module lamps
Thanks, that is really good info. I resorted to regular panel mount LEDs. Could you suggest a supplier? I did a quick Google and it didn't come up with anything useful.

Re: Flap control module lamps
The take off position uses different micro switches depending on whether the flaps are moving down or up. It seems likely that one of your switches, probably S2, is at fault or picked up some contamination. I'd try a squirt of switch cleaner or a new switch rather than go for the control switch.

Re: Flap control module lamps
Thanks for your response Cyril. I have checked again. In my case there is a partial failure in some of the LEDs. They are a quite unusual four segment type that I have been unable to locate. I might just have to fit single element ones.

Flap control module lamps
The DA20 flap control unit has three indicator lamps which are four segment flush mount LEDs. I have a module upon which some of these lamps have failed segments. DAI do not stock the LEDs and they advised me to contact White Wire who make the units for DAI. I tried to contact White Wire but have ha...

Re: Fuel pump malfunction
I sent two Dukes pumps to Aeromotors for overhaul. Upon fitting the first one I had the same starting problems that other have previously reported. I checked the the magnetos and ultrasonic cleaned the nozzles. No difference. I then checked the flow at the injector lines and found that with the pump...

Re: Fire retardant paint
Aircraft Spruce stock Contego Fire Barrier using part # 05-02615. It is a fraction of the price of the PPG paint and is very easy to apply. You can spray over it with an automotive type high temperature laquer or paint.
