Re: Covid19 - Extending Subscriptions

Might be tougher in the States. In most cases we can still fly. Not much to do when we get to destinations, though.

Re: Any DA-42 misfuelings?

Very obvious. Wouldn't be possible if you were partially filling a low tank though. We usually top mains since the plane has good useful load for 4 normal pax--MZFW is typically the limiting factor anyways. Makes it easy to peep in the tanks to see what went in.

Re: Diamond Owners Being Taken Advantage Of - Maintenance

Are these numbers reasonable ? It’s not easy to say because of the difference in labor cost and it’s hard to know what parts were replaced. But generally speaking, 17k$ is too much for annual. Mine are usually around 6k$. Maybe we need to stop stacking 300/600 hour intervals on our annuals, but I d...

Re: Outrageously Low Jet A Pricing

Paul, it's the CAA FBO on the field. If you're not a CAA member (or anyone else flying using jet-A in the states), look into it: https://www.corpaa.us/ Richard, CAA fuel at AGC is significantly cheaper APA, HIO, RVS, AGC are some of the nation's cheapest FBOs. Some good stuff around Omaha too. CYVR ...

Re: Weather radar upgrade on a DA42

We're looking to do this, too. Cool to see. Thanks Salim Neema, looking at pictures of your plane I can see a radome already installed ? Does this means -VI are delivered with the radome even when the radar is not installed ? Thanks Radome is installed but we had ours removed before taking delivery...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

That's exactly the right question Russ. An STC could solve half the battle, but Garmin calibrates each TXi/G3X panel to each airframe if you stayed with their product line. Ideally, any STC to split the airframe from avionics ideally does so without being tethered to only one alternative--i.e. the a...

Re: What comes after a DA40?

Antoine, that GRAMET tool you showed (around 3:05 in your video) looks great--similar to Foreflights vertical planning tool but looks more detailed. Who's tool/service do you use? I tried Autorouter.aero but doesn't seem to like airfields in the US. Love that format edit: disregard*** just noticed O...

Re: What are your weather limits in DA42?

I'm in the SXM Nexrad but no onboard weather radar club. Looking into putting onboard weather back in the nose. I've flown through nexrad medium returns which must have been concentrated at one altitude, giving new meaning to a sporty ride, as well as returns that were benign. It's different if you ...
