you can buy any size sd cards, but you have to repartition the card to 8 gigs or smaller. Micro sd do not work as well with our g1000. You can go to best buy, staples etc. and buy a run of the mill 16 gig sd card. Then you have to repartition the card to use less space for the g1000 to recognize it....
