Re: Corked Nose Wheel

Steve, in the meantime as we wait for a fin... I’ve found that increasing nose wheel tension to 18 pounds (as documented by several of us here) largely solves the corking problem.

Re: Tower - "Where are you?"

So that I know how to report distance from airport (esp for CTAF self reports)... I simply press the NRST key on the PFD (G1000), which then keeps the distance to my airport (unless there are many many airports closer) right in my face on the PFD. If a CTAF airport, I then report at e.g. ~15 miles, ...

Re: Inflight Cell Phone Use

Legalities aside... I "know pilots" who text inflight most every flight, with cell service 50%+ of the time at 10,000' MSL. They even use the cellphone to get ATIS when the freq is blocked by terrain. Personally I always have my cellphone available for lostcoms (infinitely better than light guns!).

Re: Installing an ADS-B GTX-45R with Avidyne TAS 600 Traffic

I had the GTX 345-R installed in my 2008 DA40 XLS (with G1000 and Avidyne TAS 600) by Advantage Aviation, Chino CA in Sept-2017. All works quite fine, including ADS-B and TAS traffic displayed on the MFD. The only complaint I have has nothing to do with the 345-R or TAS... but rather the lack of a n...

Re: Stuck in Moab making 0 amps

A couple years ago I had much the same symptoms (although in my case, inflight)... landed and local shop determined the Voltage Regulator had failed. Replaced the VR and all good since then.

When I repaired a scrape on my wingtip, Diamond was very helpful on the paint specification for an exact match.
Louis, can you share with us here the exact/complete specification??
Thanks,

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

Just out of curiosity, what is your typical "mission"? Andrew, I fly primarily throughout the US West, so most all trips involve flying over high terrain and/or climbing out of high density altitude airports, with the aircraft loaded at or near max gross with passengers and/or rescue animals. A typ...

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

Peter, I agree with Brock on the EIS... easier hot starts; more efficient LOP; slight improvement (a few knots?) in TAS at high DA.

PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

First and foremost I'd like to express my gratitude to Brock for being the trail blazer and alpha/beta test site for this "game changer" upgrade for our aircraft... and to Rod and Ian at Forced Aeromotive (FA) for developing this fine product. I've started to collect some metrics on the Climb Rate a...

Re: Ceiling

... and since I assume Arnaud was flying summertime in hot Europe, the Density Altitude could easily be +2K-to-3K' higher than ForeFlight's GPS altitude. Arnaud, next time you upload your SD card you could calculate what the 16,845' GPS altitude corresponded to in Density Altitude.
