Re: Fire retardant paint

Hi We are overdue doing this on our DA40 also - the paint is all flaking away. I called local PPG agent and was told that Steelguard was discontinued. Not sure if that's true. Is it worth trying to get Diamond to certify Contego or something more accessible to us? If anyone has an order of paint inb...

Re: Dynon EFIS-D10A

Very interesting. Any indication of cost for the STC one?
I am sure the next time someones gyro fails in their attitude indicator this will look very appealing.

Re: I'd love a DA40, but is there one with enough useful load?

haha - I am actually from Zimbabwe (hence the username). But I don't think I would fly GA there - or the national carrier for that matter. I don't believe there is a single working radar installation at Harare International. Noah: If you can do without G1000 then you can get what you want in an olde...

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40

Thanks Chris

Alas it looks like the AeroLEDs Sunbeams are not available.
Think I may end up looking at a XEVision HID for landing light and possibly a 71685 for taxi light to keep costs down

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40

More on the option 3 - seems that this 71685 LED has 30 degree spread so really only for good taxi light usage. Although it is a lot cheaper than any other option ($180ish), easier to fit and can be left on pretty much indefinitely for greater visibility to others. The 71125 for option 2 (needing br...

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40

Hi Tim Thanks for the response. Ok - completely ignoring option 1 then I think we may may have option 2 and 3 the wrong way around.. Option 2 is the LED Diamond kit under OSB40-077. Apparently this does need mounting brackets. I understand the bulbs are 71125, running $280-$350ea and then $450ish fo...

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40

Hi all Our landing light is getting really dim and we want to swap out for an LED in the upcoming annual. I've been reviewing this (lengthy!) thread but am still confused. 1. I see DA40 mentioned for Parmetheus STC (http://www.whelen.com/pb/Aviation/STC/Parmetheus%20STC%20SA02212AK.pdf) but that is ...

Cowl carbon baffles, CHTs

Hi Been watching the CHTs as the OAT has been quite high recently. I've had to keep things richer than I would like to keep it cool. I noticed that the carbon fiber baffles (or whatever they are called) in the cowl openings - especially the left one (facing the prop) - were rather high. This is prob...
