Re: Honest Opinion Request

The OP’s question is tough and it’s hard to give straight answer. Just a few comments from my side. There are both 135hp and 155hp versions of the engines, and I suspect, but don’t know for certain, that a CD-135 airplane can be upgraded to CD-155 in lieu of an overhaul. CD-135 -> CD-155 upgrade req...

Out of curiosity, does SF50 feature the same spring-loaded side stick as SR22 or it's something more sophisticated?

Measured saturation was fine and subjective feeling was ok still using cannula although I had mask prepared.

Re: Above FL180

Obviously performance reduces but not dramatically and I believe that -VI still operates fine, having in mind that DA62 (with practically same engines) is certified to FL200. I’ve flown DA42TDI (CD-155) few times above FL180 due to icing conditions below and while it’s not optimal, it’s still ok. I ...

Out of curiosity, do you still own N1446C?

I’m sorry but I don’t see any safety benefit in max power before releasing the breaks.

Re: Prop Damage

The procedure is coming from somewhere, just wondering where. Strange stuff can come from various sources, some can be passed over generations of instructors although they are absolutely wrong. My favorite one is a myth of ice bridging on pneumatic deicing boots. It used to be problem on very first...

Re: Prop Damage

…static run up at takeoff to check for max power… Why would you do this on normal takeoff if there’s sufficient runway available for stop in case loss of power / no sufficient power developed during ground run? Does everyone runup power to max before brake release? Only for short field takeoff.

Quoting witnesses: The conditions at the airport at the time of the crash included overcast clouds at 1,200 feet, 1 ¾ miles visibility in light snow and gusting winds, the report says. Two witnesses who watched the plane depart told investigators that it did so during a period of heavy snowfall, ac...
