Re: New DA 62 Owners

Dave, having been originally serviced with Aeroshell Diesel Ultra, would it harm the engines if I added half a liter of the Castrol to get to the next 100 hr? Although it's a question for Dave and I have CD-155 engines, I haven't found any problems in topping up with different approved oil. My mech...

Re: What tug to get?

I've just ordered TF2 from Towflexx https://towflexx.com. It's a tug and GPU - there's smaller version TF1 that's sufficient for DA40. I don't know whether this is available in US.

Re: DA62 - 2013 discussion of 210kts

It's hard to believe they ever saw 210 knots from a DA52 (DA62 prototype). I could see reaching 200 knots due to the extremely low weight, and lack of TKS panels. I don't think there's much more that could be done to increase the DA62 cruise speed except to drastically increase horsepower. For exam...

Re: Fuel Leak

We considered shutting it down, but with it streaming out I did not feel that the Jet fuel would light up. I was more concerned about when we shut it down on the landing. With shutting down it early in the air you lower the possibility of fire after landing because the fuel would be vented out and ...

Re: G1000 Legacy & NXI Software Upgrades Announcement

I would not say, that >340 DA40D is a small number and there should be nearly no difference to the DA42 TDI. Furthermore the early GDU software was identical for DA40D and DA42 TDI. So it should be easy to derive a DA40D version from the DA42 TDI version. I think you're right in all statements abov...

Re: New DA 62 Owners

Hi all, As a fairly low-time pilot, I was wondering if any of you got your DA62's with <300 hrs total time and what kind of numbers you have for insurance (requirements and cost). The company I called said they likely wouldn't even offer a policy with my current #'s and recommended >500 hrs, CPL, I...

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. Seems you ca do so much more with an analog Diamond than a G1000 one.
You can do the same. With G1000 equipped one you just have to pull out G1000 and keep what you can reuse (audio panel, DME, ADF...).

The hull part is 1.3% of agreed value. Also covers use by a flight school with named instructors always on board.
Still cheaper than here - 1.43%

Not sure if this is helpful but I pay USD16,000 for insurance on my 2016 DA62 in Australia. Lots of multi time though.

Hope this gives you a ball park.
Do you know how much of it is hull insurance?
