Re: Unnerving incident today…
Thank you all for the responses. Andrew: No.. the slight movement in the trim wheel didn’t result in any relief of the controls. Something was jammed with the trim wheel. I agree something was wrong but as of now I don’t know what it is. I am definitely interested in finding out what it is. Peter: I...

Unnerving incident today…
Hello all, I believe in community learning and so I am here to share this experience for the benefits of others and to learn from others. No ego on my part - just continuous learning. Since I’ve sold my plane, I’ve been doing mostly simulator training to stay current. The flight school closest to me...

Re: A big big void
On our second family trip, and first overnight, the push-to-talk button on the pilot's yoke broke on the rental plane. My wife was not as convinced, but that was when I decided I had to own a plane instead. That stuff drives me *crazy.* There's a couple people on this board I could partner with, li...

A big big void
Hello all, If any of you owners are thinking of selling their plane, you may want to reconsider. I sold my DA40 after 18 months of wonderful ownership. I underestimated my capacity to live without my own plane.. thinking I could rent instead. The rise in DA40 prices helped the decision to sell. That...

Re: Intermittent AHRS fail
I used to rent a 2005 DA40 where there were frequent loss of AHRS. I do recall some explanation that didn't make sense and I don't care to repeat it here. It was very frustrating. I don't know if the link below can help provide a path to discovering the issue. http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?do=m...

Re: Cruising in forward slip solved!
Could still be the nose wheel corking, because that seems to be a function of the nose wheel angle on liftoff. You'll need to verify by many, many trial takeoffs... or a GoPro on the tail skid facing forward. It’s possible but I think the conclusion I feel most comfortable with having read this for...

Cruising in forward slip solved!
Hello all, So I don't know if others encountered this or if most think this is obvious. On a number of occasions I was bewildered and upset that my plane was not flying in perfect alignment. By that I mean the slip skid indicator is perfectly aligned in straight and level flight. It happened today a...

Re: G1000 and holding at an unpublished way point
Although not specifically related to holding, here is a good G1000 set of videos called the "Six Sacred Skills" - Direct to a Fix - Activate and Join a Leg - Course Inbound to a Fix - Course Outbound From a Fix - Unnamed Intersection - Unnamed DME Fix (Each video is about 2-3 minutes long...
