Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
On the Altitude Alert, this is what PG says: “ ALTITUDE ALERTING Altitude alerting provides the pilot with visual and aural alerts when approaching the Selected Altitude. Whenever the Selected Altitude is changed, the altitude alerter is reset. The following occur when approaching the Selected Altit...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
Hi, The 3D audio is described in the manuals, so we felt safe in turning it on. The loader card was not required. It was set to USER (not OFF), but the described method for turning it on via the UI (either MFD or via the audio panel) didn’t work, so we (as others on this list) activated it. All this...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
Hi Boatguy, I made the changes to the 1360, both at the time of pickup and here in Amsterdam. The hardest part is mapping Garmin names to understandable concepts. One you know how to activate the cursor, making changes is straightforward. I understand the BT limitation to 3. What we've found is that...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
Oeps: I included the wrong picture above on the in-airplane v-speed settings. Vspeeds-PHTDX.jpeg (The photo in the original post came from the Garmin NXi simulator, a great place to play with Maintenance Mode settings before moving to the airplane.) One other issue I forgot: since the upgrade, we te...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
PS: there was no W&B impact with the upgrade. Ultimately, the new systems were a few pounds lighter in total.

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
As I had posted earlier, we upgraded our G1000 Legacy system on our DA42-NG to NXi Phase II. The work was done at Diamond Maintenance in Austria. Our airplane was originally assembled in Canada (42AC056) in 2007 as a 42-TDI. It was converted to an NG in 2016 at Diamond Canada. We purchased the aircr...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions
Hi Chris, chili4way and Jan, Thanks for the speedy responses. We'll get the 510 card. Chris, on our upgrade to NXi: this is work the factory needs to do because it involves SB and work orders that they don't publish. (Of course, I suppose the guys in Canada get access.) We have a slot for the beginn...

Flight Stream 510 question: how many iPads?
Hi all, We are about to upgrade the G1000 in our 42NG from the 'classic' model to NXi P2. (The work will be done in Austria.) We are also considering getting a Flight Stream 510 card. I doubt we will use if for database updates, but it may be handy for transferring flight plans. My concern is that t...

Re: G1000 Data Logging
To finish this: I swapped SD data cards (from a Garmin card to an old 3rd-party 2GB card I had lying around). After extensive testing -- that is, two flights on one day -- I can report that the logging works fine. Too bad my ferry flights from London Ont to Amsterdam didn't make it to disk. Thanks f...

Re: G1000 Data Logging
Hey Rick, The 150 files I have are from the previous owner (plus two I made yesterday). Most are a few KB, only one or two in the MB range. The all seem to end rather abruptly, with only a partial last data line in the file. I'm using FlySto to analyze the few larger files. I've also put in a new SD...
